Since the last 20 days or so, every outgoing call that i make from my airtel number is followed by a 25-30 seconds pre call announcement informing me that my data benefits have expired. The announcement is not limited to few calls / day, in fact, i am forced to hear it every time i make an outgoing call.
Fed up of such brutal and unethical marketing practice, i contacted airtel dnd on 1909. My call was transferred to a senior executive, ms. Prithi singh, who advised me to get a data pack in order to stop those announcements. She insisted that it was the only solution, even when i made it clear that i do not want any data services from airtel and that i am fully aware that my data benefits have expired.
This is the lowest tactic that a company can resort to, and a simple "airtel pre call announcement" google search revealed that i was among one of the thousand customers facing the same issue.
Through you, honourable telecom secretary, i urge the airtel and its officers concerned to put an end to such tactics that cause inconvenience to customers apart from damaging the reputation of the brand.
Not only are such announcements annoying, they have the potential to cause great damage during the time when the caller is in distress and is trying to call for help. Was this information helpful? |
