My name is Pranav Ghatkar and I have been using mobile services with Airtel (Bhartee Airtel) since last 8 months. I had an outstanding payment for Rs. 2500 as my mobile bill. The communication provider (Airtel) has used my personal data and called my family and friends for this issue. This is a Violation of Data Protection Act.
We all know that the service providers can dig into our account and see our call history but using those contacts is a violation. My family and friends got calls from these guys asking for me. Though they have my current contact number m they preferred to call my family and friends. This is harassment as a customer and also now we cannot believe their services.
Looking forward to the consequences of this case, they can use anyone’s contacts and this could lead to a serious incident. For Ex. If they (Airtel) use contacts of a business person he can loss money and the reputation in Market.
I must say this kind of behavior from the service providers could lead to a very dangerous situation. This is as equal as stealing our personal things.
I as a customer, appeal to get this matter highlighted and takes at a higher levels.
