Big Bazaar — Too much delay in delivering

I booked a wardrobe at Big Bazaar in Bangalore at their Koramangala outlet on 15th August 2010 during their freedom sale. I had paid the full amount as advance during booking. I was given a receipt which promised that I will get the wardrobe on 30th of August 2010, which did not happen. The reason given was that their SAP systems were down and because of that they can not dispatch the goods out of their go down. They said the delivery will happen with a delay, and I was promised to get the wardrobe on 31st of August, which was changed to September 3rd and further to Sep 7th and again to Sep 10th. All these while I was following up the issue by talking to Big Bazaar staff by calling them on the telephone number mentioned on the receipt given to me during the time of booking the wardrobe. After Sep 10th, I got the mobile number of one of their managers, and while talking to him he said that the stocks of wardrobes never existed in their go-downs!!... He also told me that they were expecting the stock very soon and my booking will be delivered on Sep 17th 2010 (after more than a month of booking). When I contacted them again on Sep 17th 2010, they said it will take 5 more days for them to get the stock and the delivery was again postponed to Sep 21st 2010.
All these while their staff were ready to refund the booking amount upon cancellation of the booking by me. My question for them is nobody will book a product that too by paying the entire amount as advance, just to wait for a month and to get a refund of it. Big bazaar has made me wait unnecessarily by falsely promising a delivery date. Will big bazaar compensate me in any way for this delay and dis satisfaction caused to me? We go to known brands like Big Bazaar expecting a good service. Won't it amount to fraud if the promise has not kept?
My sincere request to everyone is please do not believe Big Bazaar in keeping up their promise. If anyone feels like purchasing something from Big Bazaar, please do it across the counter as cash-and-carry. Do not book for any item in advance and wait for it on the promised delivery date, for that will never happen.

Yes I do agree. I have similar experience at Dhanbad. A book shelf was purchased by me from bigbuzzar. Before purchasing it was stated that home delivery will be made. After paying the full amount i came to know that the purchased item will be delivered after four days. After five days parts of the bookshelf were delivered but it has not yet been installed. I am really at a loss to understand what shall I do with the parts of the book shelf when a bookshelf was purchased by me. They should prominently display at the shop how much delay may occur in delivery of the goods. [protected]@yahoo.in
