Freelance — Fraud

I m a beginner and I was exploring freelance website, after some time I bid for one project in data entry. Now that scammer told me to send security money so that he can activate my project. After the payment he told me that I will receive project details with 24 hrs in mail. But now his account has been closed it seems. I was unaware of the fact that I shouldn't have to pay outside freelance payment method.
