I am Dr Angeleena. My mom Mrs T Suguna (IP no :[protected] was admitted in KIMS hospital, Minister Road Secunderabad on 15th December 2022. She was in ICU 4 till 27th December and was shifted to ICU 3 due to hospital's own reasons. My mom had two pairs of *silver toe rings*(mettelu) on her toes since her marriage ... spanning 62 years. The staff in ICU 3 removed the toe rings from my mom's feet on 28th December (there was absolutely no need for them to do so). On 29th Dec, I asked the staff to return the toe rings but they promised to return later. My mom passed away on 30th December 2022 at 10:45 p.m. and even after completion of all the formalities to take my mom home on 31st December, the hospital staff did not return the toe rings. My friend had written 'toe rings not received'. Ms Greeshma (name given by her +91 ...) the nursing head in ICU was responding to my calls but after that someone named Mr Bharath( their head (040...Ramesh KIMS appeared in the Truecaller) called me after 1 month on 30th January 2023 and promised to look into this matter but hasn't responded nor returned the toe rings. *The price of the toe rings might not be big but it's value for us is worth a treasure as they are the last memory of my mom on her body.* Who gave them the right to pull out the toe rings from her feet when my dad is still alive? Such kind of behaviour can be expected from small hospitals, clinics or government hospitals but not a reputed corporate hospital like KIMS.
The grievances are many in the KIMS hospital apart from man-handling patients in ICU on ventilator and charges are levied upon hapless people in the name of protocol. Products like Ensure (Rs 670 outside, Rs 700 + in KIMS) Water bed (Rs 1900 outside, Rs 3100 in KIMS) brought from outside are not accepted. They don't use diapers for patients yet charge us for that. A digital thermometer to check the body temperature in ICU doesn't work and the staff flits it like a mercury thermometer. When we demand for splitting of the bill for each item, our plea falls into deaf ears instead free advice will be given to us from the floor manager and his colleague on phone to shift the patient from KIMS hospital to where we can afford.
As an educated person if I don't voice out this issue then it will not come to light as there might be many bearing this as we speak and undergoing trauma, so KIMS HOSPITAL, please do the needful to return my mom's toe rings as it's our family treasure. I had to seek help from speak out as my request to the hospital authorities has fallen into deaf ears.
