i have personally loved this car right from the time i purchased.Now coming from the overall japanese reliability of the honda city, purchasing a volkswagen was a huge leap, but one that was eventually bound to happen.The stability and the more spirited nature of the ameo highline had me sold and i have loved the dsg gearbox ever since i purchased.Volkswagen ameo is a stylish looking sedan segment car. It has premium looking interior. Build quality of this car is very good. It has very good standard safety features in it. The good things are, good build and good performance.I embarked on a road trip with my family to baroda and that's when my woes began.
This is the most troubling problems, and this is what made me really worried. This issue has only happened once. I was driving the car in "d" mode. When suddenly the car went out of gear! the engine continued revving, but the car stopped moving forward. Only the rev counter was shooting up to 6000rpm but it felt as though the car was in neutral. The gear indicator still showed "d2" but the car kept slowing down with no power going to the wheels. Then i switched to "s" but the car still had no power. Please note that the engine was still on, and the car was still revving. Finally i had to stop, and take it to the side, switch to "p" mode.Its a scary feeling when it happens at high speed.
The technical team of volkswagen (may be m/s automark cars pvt ltd representator) has reported that the defect has occurred due to bad driving practice and my vehicle is not eligible for repair under warranty norms. They also provide me the estimation proforma invoice, a brand like vw and its products are expected to meet customer requirements which has clearly not happened in this case. This is an absolute disgrace to the customer. Hence i’m not sure that vw has compromised on the quality of parts fitted on vehicle in the first place. Now as a customer i feel cheated with the kind of product delivered to me.
In view of the premature failure of the multiclutch on my ameo i request vw to consider a warranty repair for my vehicle. I also request them to look into the failure of this part in detail so that these problems won't recurred for future customers so that they can be refrained from humiliation like i have faced for the past few days. We chose volkswagen for its quality, promptness, service and reputation. However we are very disappointed with the debacle performance. We will also be taking up the matter with consumer society if required but we wish to vw support us as we are one of liable customer. Not sure whether vw india are waiting for someone to lose their life due to this issue. This again smacks of an indifference attitude to indian customers from a global group.
