On april 5, 2019, i rang up kuruvila c. G. Who runs an akshaya centre in pallimukku (Kundara, kollam, kerala) as i wanted to book round trip ticket for velankanni by tamil nadu stc bus.
He picked the call and said he provided the service.
As i walked into his office i asked him how much would be the total cost. He went inside and came out after a few seconds and said inr 700 was the fare per ticket. So total fare, including the service charge, was 1400.
I had to go to the near by atm to get the amount.
When i came back he asked for my aadhaar and went inside and started the process. After two minutes he came out and said the fare would be inr 750 per ticket. So total fare, including the service charge, went up to 1500.
He handed over the printed tickets and i gave him inr 1500.
However, when i reached home i had a look at the ticket and the real ticket fare was inr 635 per ticket. So total fare was inr 1270.
I was shocked. What a rip off! (You could see kerala ex chief minister ummen chandi's photo on his wall standing with him, and so a false sense of trust was created :-))
I rang mr. Kuruvila. He picked up the phone. I expressed my disbelief regarding the service charge.
He explained.
Ticket fare = inr 635
Bank charge = inr 15
Service charge = inr 100
Total = inr 750
So for two tickets 2x750 = inr1500.
I told him it was a rip off. He was not shaken but was happy that he could get yet another accomplishment in his career.
I was wondering what a lawless land ours has become. However, a country like india has amazing mechanisms to flush out the wrong doers.
Let's hope for the best.
