Hi,
I am a holder of Bajaj Allianz Health Insurance policy No OG[protected]-00004051.I have been holding this policy continuously for two years now.The policy is up for renewal now (14/04/2011). I wanted to bring to your notice certain
hassles I am facing in trying to get his policy renewed.
When the policy was first marketed/sold to me in 2009, the whole transaction happened via a telephonic call the customer rep.I made the payment also through my credit card and everything went through fine.During the first renewal in 2010 also everything happened over phone and the payment was made using my
credit card.
However this year the policy being due on 14/04/2011, I received an SMS from Bajaj allianz reminding me of the renewal due data and also requesting me to send an SMS to [protected] with the text "RENEWGEN". I sent this SMS 3 to 4 times expecting to get a response. Unfortunately, I never got a call back from anybody.
The alternative to this (the SMS route) provided to me was to call the number [protected]. When I did so, I was told that the renewal cannot happen over the phone and further the payment could not be done using my credit card and that I need to go to the nearest branch and make a cash/cheque payment for the renewal.I was given the contact number of Jayanagar Branch, Bangalore to reach out to.
When I called the Jayanagar Branch, I am given the number of one of the renewal reps.I called the number and told about my plans to renew the policy. To this I get a reply from her saying that since this policy was paid through a credit card initially, that I need to discontinue this policy and take a new one.
No body in Bajaj Allianz seem to be keen on renewing an existing policy.
I cannot believe this at all. I never expected this kind of treatment to a customer who wants to renew an existing policy and continue the relationship. I have absolutely no idea why I should be discontinuing the policy and foregoing all the benefits like cumulative bonuses, no claim bonuses which were promised to me initially when I purchased the policy.I am wondering if there is a some company strategy behind this ? I am getting a feeling that Bajaj Allianz is purposely and fraudulently trying to get people to discontinue policies and forego all payments made thus far and the benefits attached.
This is absolutely an unfair and unethical practice for a company of the stature of Bajaj Allianz. I feel cheated and deprived of my customer rights.
If the company is not interested in renewing the policy at least I should be refunded the two years premium that I have paid, since there has not been a claim made from my end.
Regards,
Prashanth
