Purchase of bakery products - BREAD. Shocked and surprised that Big Bazaar even at a new venue like EXPRESS AVENUE at Chennai was so careless to permit sale of stale /FUNGUS/Bacteria affected bread. I had purchased bread on 11.08.2010 and after coming home on the next day morning,when preparing for breakfast and on opening the bread packet, found the FUNGUS growth on it, unfit for human consumption. This was brought to the notice of the staff of the store,The staff apologized and offered replacement. Even that was infected with FUNGUS. A second packet picked by me was severely infected with fungus.The replacements given to me by the staff were also infected with fungus. The local supplier Mr. Ananthakrishnan, The staff Mr. Sundar, Mr. Murlikrishnan, Mr. Bhargava,Mr.Dinesh Ms.Pavitra, and the lady manager were shown this bad ,poor quality, sub-standard products being sold under the brand name of "BIG BAZAAR." This is a gross in deficiency in service. The local supplier's Managing Director acknowledged that there was defective,sub-standard supply of bread and did not want this episode to be reported.The above staff also did not want this to be reported saying that it would affect their jobs. I am very surprised by what type of food quality control is followed and or how the health inspector have also allowed sale of such sub-standard food products unfit for human consumption to take place. Kindly ensure that the quality control is stringently followed for all food items so that it does not endanger the health and life of the public.

I had purchased bread on 11.08.2010 and after coming home on the next day morning,when preparing for breakfast and on opening the bread packet, found the FUNGUS growth on it, unfit for human consumption. This was brought to the notice of the staff of the store,The staff apologized and offered replacement. Even bread with packaged DATE:12.08.2010 WAS INFECTED WITH FUNGUS ON 13.08.2010. A second packet picked by me WITH SAME PKG.DATE was severely infected with fungus.The replacements given to me by the staff were also infected with fungus. The local supplier Mr. Ananthakrishnan,the Production Manager of VMS Food & Beverages Services Pvt. Ltd. was shown this bad ,poor quality, sub-standardFUNGUS/BACTERIA infected products being sold under the brand name. This is a gross indeficiency in service. The local supplier's Managing Director Ms.USHA RAJAGOPAL acknowledged that it was defective,sub-standard supply of bread after inspecting it personally on 14.08.2010 and did not want this episode to be reported. I am very surprised by what type of food quality control is followed and or how the health inspector has also allowed sale of such sub-standard food products unfit for human consumption to take place.
