[Resolved]  Billabong School - Thane — Avoid taking admission in Billabong

Address: Thane, Maharashtra

I had taken an admission for my daughter in Billabong, Thane and since then I have had a horrific experience dealing with the management of the school, especially, the principal (Rajani Pattabhiraman) and the trustee (Sandeep Goenka).
• During my wife’s stay at the school on the first day, she observed that one of the child was left behind by the transport bus. She was surprised by this incident and inquired about this with the transport manager, Mr Alok Sharma. He mentioned that it was the teacher’s fault and he was not responsible for it. He also mentioned that the teacher needs to be taught a lesson for this. When my wife further inquired if there are any controls to ensure all children have boarded the school bus, Mr. Sharma started shouting at her and was very rude. He also went on to say that we should remove our child from the school. After this incident my wife was shocked.

• In our meeting with the principal, she also mentioned that she has been witnessing this unusually rude behavior from their transport manager and that she has also spoken to him on many occasions. However, she could not explain on how come the school is persisting with such people when they have an important responsibility of transporting child to and from the school. May be the school has not given enough important to this extremely important element in the past.

• There has been an incident at Hiranandani Meadows, Thane where the parents collectively refused to send their children in the school bus because the bus was carrying more children then the bus capacity and seats
I fail to understand that even after paying so much of fees and other charges, my wife had to go through such a terrible experience. In such situation, we couldn’t risk our daughter with such unorganized school who runs on the whims and fences of a transport manager, who has even the audacity to even ask us to remove our child from the school. After the above incidents I tried to get in touch with the principal and rather than resolving the situation, she was comfortable in us removing our child from the school. When I inquired in the refund of fee, she had asked me to take an appointment from their trustee (Sandeep Goenka). In my meeting with Sandeep, he assured me to refund full fee. However, once I started asking for a refund cheque, Sandeep stopped answering my emails. I would have written at least 8-10 emails but neither the trustee nor the principal had any courtesy to respond to my emails.
Finally, after so long the principal’s secretary called me and asked me to visit the school for collecting cheque of refund. It was shocking to see that the school did not refund the admission fee of Rs.20,000. I have heard that they have done this treatment to many other parents.
Think twice before enrolling your child at Billabong, Thane because once you pay the fee, nobody would listen to you nor they would answer your emails / calls. In my mind the principal doesn’t deserve to be even a clerk at the school and don’t really know how she has become the principal of the school and I believe the trustee (Sandeep Goenka) is a liar and not really trustworthy

Dear All,

I have my ward in this school in grade V, i dont believe with above mentioned comments. The school principal Mrs Ranjini Krishnaswamy is very helpful an kind.I like the fact that the teachers and staff are very caring. They give my child more individualized attention than he had before.
The principal of the school is a reputed person, dont spoil her name, with false allegation, every school has his up and down and Billabong High has shaped very well.Which school allows you to meet the principal anytime in the school hours??In other schools you are not allowed to enter the school premises till the time you haven't taken an appointment. Here Principal Maam meets the parents and solve the queries, without any difficulties. If parents who have some much problems with the school instead of writing here..go the school and talk about it, rather claiming negative things about the school
I believe in Billabong School and the management ...

School — no control on schools.

who and how can control these private schools in Delhi? They are doing only business. They increased fee when they want.Is there any department who monitor their accounts?please do some thing.

u have not mentioned anything about the childs view or the problems she is facing..somewhere it is also a case of lack of parental planning.isn't it?
i am a girl psychologist, and would like to inform parents of girl children that a lot more planning is needed for education than u think
well, you are not alone in the problem u have mentioned, i have heard similar things from many parents about the same school. infact i am training some of these students
i[censored] need any help in counselling, parenting, girl child training, you can read thanestudycircle.4t.com
vivek
@childpsychologist, shut your mouth and refrain from advertising your business here. it is not lack of parental planning. small child of age 3-4 should be taken care by the person whose custody he is in. they are not matured as we are. and u think you aare also not matured.
Sorry to say I use to work for billabong thane. Does anyone have any idea how the teacher are treated? How much they are paid compare to other international schools? Sorry to say most of the teachers are not trained and are picked from coaching centers. Teacher needs training to teach IGCSE, but at Billabong Thane any teacher can teach any subject. I really feel sorry for worked for this unethical place. As a teacher I feel that it’s not worth for parents to a part of this school. It is a franchise and its business rater than service. Its day light robbery teacher are paid from[protected], non teacher staff – 3000.The fees hike last years done with a promise of paying 6th pay commission, but it was never implemented. Parents need to check the number of teachers resigned in last one year I any disagree with me can contact

The current teachers require training, i am surprised to know that each class period is of 35 minutes and I do not know how many minutes you had per class. Being a part of NCERT I really do not know how did you or the current teachers manage to complete the syllabus.

School — BAD ROADS TO THE SCHOOL,LETTING CHILDREN OUT OF THE SCHOOL BUS OF THE ROAD,NO SPORTS BUT ARE TAKING SPORT FEE

KENSRI SCHOOL:
1. NO PROPER ROAD TO THE SCHOOL.
2. BUS DRIVERS LET OUT THE CHILDREN ON THE ROAD AND GO AWAY, MAKING IT DANGEROUS FOR THE CHILDREN TO GO TO SCHOOL.
3.NO SPORT ACTIVITY FOR OVER A YEAR, BUT HAVE TAKEN SPORT FEE.
Hi Parents,

I had been to this Thane school to enquire about admission to Jr. KG for my 3 yr old just last Saturday, 26 March '11. The school's appointed person in the Pre-primary section's office did not have the basic courtesy to offer us a seat when there were chairs meant for that. She asked just a question "Yes?" and when I mentioned I wanted to enquire about admission, she mentioned that I needed to come on a week day for that. On offering a "Thanks" to her for providing this information, there was no response yet again. Where a school staffer cannot practise basic courtesy when communicating with parents of prospective students, what more can we expect other than such unpleasant behavior later on. I walked off with just enquiring and decided not to admit my kid in this school. Stay away from this school.
I too had a horrible experience with the school authorities and the transport manager. I had asked for a refund of the fees, which was aproved by the management board. However, they refused to refund the tution fees and said that we should contact the transport manager directly for refund of transport fees. He flatly refused to refund the transport fees, despite it being approved by the management board. The transport manager Sharma is a very obnoxious, mean and rude person. He used very insulting language and said that this is how business is done. Parents need to demand a change in attitude from these officials. There is no need to take this lying down after paying such atrocious fees.
In which class had you admitted your child last year, and now which school is she in ?
This school is really very unprofessional... there is a lot of mismanagement.
it changed the school reopening day on the previous night and also, it is not informed to every parent. you just get an sms from transport that the school reopening is postponed.
hi i
This school is really unprofessional
...The entire management of the school has changed and even the dates that the school is reopening on monday ... was just informed the previous night... just getting an sms from transport is not enoughh... .
Unprofessional school
Billabong international school... Beware!!! Total chaos... Big money small returns... Today 7th june 2012 school is supposed to reopen for primary... The child is ready waiting... Call up the school and they say it's gonna start from monday... They cant even send a sms... No call... No intimation... They don't care... Other schools promptly send a sms to all parents... Here they cant afford it seems... Totally unprofessional approach in everything... Parent's orientation day, all parents are watching their show... A shabby ppt put up in a tilted way... They don't care to be professional... Teachers can't speak properly... Damn the language development of our children once in billabong... Buses are full of mosquitoes becoz they r parked in that jungle... They cant even spray something for it... Children will keep scratching their legs by the time they r home... There is no swimming pool training with so much money... Please try other schools... V r stuck for this year!
very in disciplined school.not systematic and big money less returns...plz think a thousand times b4 tking admission

need a change
Hi, i wish to take admission for my son 5.5yrs for coming year in 1st std in billabong thane. Can anybody help me with the present state of school, mngt, and teachers.
I want to admit my 3 year old boy for nursurey .. After reading all this .. I want to know is there any other good school...
The most important point for any school to care about is the Health of its students. This School's toilets were found unclean and were as good as (rather as bad as) public toilets. Lots of mosquitoes behind toilet seats. Hygiene is poor, classes are not cleaned regularly and they are dusty. Walls of classroom look like it's some municipal school classroom painted ages ago. Lots of scrap was seen lying in the premises. Broken furniture is left near staircases just as you would see in chawls or municipality store rooms. Earlier teachers were good but many have quit and the newer hired ones are not experienced. The 2 stars rating is for those few teachers left who are really caring for their students.
All in all, this school can be a last option. Big money is being taken as fees in the name of "international school" but current standard being maintained is similar to that of schools running on government grants. Sorry to say this school has no class of its own.
There is no discipline at all in the secondary section. All foul language, gestures, bullying are just so common in the classes as well as buses. The management and administration have no control on the discipline issues. Few of the parents are also ok with this discipline and they feel it's normal. In the past one year the school has the 3rd Principal and more than 20 teachers have changed in one academic year. The bus manager Sharma you are talking about manages the canteen too. Looks like he is the incharge of the school. Few parents too are a part of school politics and do not mind to defame the school in the public( even though their own children are studying there) with strikes and gheraos over fee raise. All these years Billabong never had any such bad name as much as this year has seen. Its not the fault of the board or Principal, its few parents and few staff tarnishing the school as their needs have not been met. Yes, new teachers are in and trainings too are going on. The teachers get less salary because the fees paid here, is less for an International curriculum whereas all other international schools in Mumbai charge not less than 2 lakhs- 6 lakhs per annum. So it is GIGO. That bus Alok Sharma is there for years and will stay there for ever with his politics and careless attitude towards school and will see to that the school is destroyed till its end. Its hard to find true academics amidst all this atmosphere. There is a lot of scope for improvement in this school.
