In your case you will have to contact the bank whose ATM you were operating, giving them the account details of the Debit card you were using. Once they find the discrepency in the cash disbursement from the ATM machine, they will refund it back to the same account.
The bank should be able to trace this at the EOD settlement and the money should be back in his account. It would take sometime as Bank would need to dig out the cash totals from the ATMs and not all of the ATMs are maintained by banks.
Please be also advised to keep the slips containing the error messages handy though, in case they were required.
Trust this would suffice.

I have made signage's for Parabolic drugs company ltd. Barwala.They are not making any payment for the last 2months. As i have done their work on time and according to their specification. Around 42,000/- of payment is pending from them . I have received all the purchase order from them .They are neither attending my phone nor attending me when i visit their premises. This is to bring to your kind notice i am having a saving joint a/c no 20572 . I used the debit card of canara bank in the ATM of Punjab national bank to withdraw money of Rs 5000/- but could not withdraw due to some error code no 072 and my transaction declined, unable to process. but next day i found from my mini statement Rs 5000/ has been debited to my a/c no 20572. As i have given a written complaint to my branch with all the ATM transaction slips.but no action has been taken by them.
