Hi,
I am another Victim of Castrol Bike Zone, Ekkattuthangal branch. I Have given my bike for service continously for last 8 months(the stupid thing in my life time), most of the work in the service will be Waterservice, change of brake shoes and engine oil.
The honeymoon went fine, Finally 2 months back they wanted to change the cam chain saying it is not in good shape I agreed to do it(The ghost came out here), They changed the cam chain and after 15 days I say my engine is heating up a lot and oil is leaking from the viewer on the top of the engine head. After repeated visit they are not able to trace the issue and recently my engines developed a big snag, it started sounding as if I am running a tractor, (Only they can ruin your bike like this).
After stressing a lot to arrest the sound the person incharge said the cam chain should be changed, getting tense on hearing this, as I had changed it just 2 months back and the bie was ideal for a month because of my overseas trip. When I said this to him he checked this in his record(this is existing) and said he will check physically and let me know and when I went in the evening he bombed me saying the crankshaft has gone bad and it should be replaced quoting the price of 8K and asking for 4K in advance.
Not able to bare this I went to a Bajaj service station where one my friend has contacts. They checked and said when fitting the Cam chain they didn't fastened the bolts correctly because of this the camshaft is not engaged evenly for the whole cycle which ruined it. To my astonishment the Bajaj guy changed the Camshaft for th price tag of RS1820!!. Be careful dont give the bike for service with these guys and risk your life, bike and lastly your wallet.

Hi
I also had experienced an issue in Ekkattuthangal branch, I gave my Apache bike service at that time they informed the battery has to be changed and along with the battery a charging unit has to changed, I agreed to do so.
After changed the battery I still faced the same problem. When I checked with them they ask me to change the charging unit again. It seems there is no warranty for charging unit. After I show the bills and fight with them for six month I got a replacement battery.
Beware guys!!...!!

Ranjith

i use to go to nungambakkam bikezone and get oil change for both the two wheelers i own. though i was tempted by the nearness and not so crowded servicing, i am happy that so far i had not ventured in to giving them servicing my babies. today, ie. 25 th march 2010, i went to nungambakkam BZ, but was told that there was no stock of any oil and due to expected price change they are delaying shipment. i am astonished by the attitude of a multinational company like castrol and the indifference they show towards two wheeler owners, whom probably they consider as lowly. all the bike zones are nothing but franchaised to some rich guys who appoint mechanics culled locally. these mechanics might have been given some brief training, thats all. these BZs dont even sell fully synthetic castrol, saying that since it is costly, it doesnot move and hence they dont stock it. These chaps may not know the intricacies of each bike or scooter, as when new models come, so many specifications change and these nuances are not expected to reach BZ mechanics. Only the authorised service centers might know. Of course, the authorised service centers also bungle a lot. Mostly it is waterwash and loosening some nuts and tightening them, change of oil, etc, which are very rudimentary. Professional servicing is very rare and one has to count on his/her luck to get expert servicing for used bikes in india. The bike manufacturers dont care, in view of the huge demand and milling population. There is no proper forum to express our grievence for shoddy servicing. Is there any case in consumer courts' history about some of these servicing guys getting punished for poor service?
i to all

Kindly accept my warning about BikeZone of Castrol in Tidel, Chennai. Its newly opened about 2 months back. Since i am working in Tidel wanted to give my bike [Scooty Pep+] for service for one of the issue stating the self start is not working and there was no charge from battery due to some connection cut. They could not figure out the problem in one full day and i gave my bike at 10:15 in morning. The next day they said they have fixed and i can take the bike by 6 PM.
The sad part is that self start was not working. And more worst is when side indicator is used the engine was going down and up. When the indicator was on, the engine slowed down and when the indicator was off the engine started. How can u feel the zig zag working of bike when u are in the middle of traffic ?!!
The bike stopped when i applied break. When i did a kick start with the stand on, it started, but when i pushed my break to keep down from stand and then ride the bike, the engine stopped. I tried about 10 times in the middle of the road. Really tensed.. tried to gain my strength to push the bike to the road corner after a long try of starting my bike with kick start. The side indicator, back light, horn which uses battery were somewhere linked to engine and so that bike engine stopped when used those gadgets. I have asked my husband to give the bike to service in Scooty show room and no other place. He had to push the bike till the show room and had to give.
Please do not give bikes [especially Scooty] to BikeZone. Do not think about waste of time till you later realize that it would become worst time and resulting in double the work that has to be done. Give service of bike to reputed bike service areas if you care for long life of bike.
Sincerely,
Dhivya Ashok.
