My car Mahindra Scorpio was due for its first paid service (4th service - 20,000 kms) this month. I decided to deliver it to Chrome Motors, Anepalya, Bangalore due to my past pleasant experience.
There were no complaints that needed attention. Only regular checkup and oil changes were expected to be done. The car was picked by a pleasant gentleman from my office at 10.30 AM. On receiving the car, the service adviser called me and took note of complaints (there were none). I requested for car wash and scheduled check-up and maintenance as per the service booklet. I specifically told the adviser to call me and seek my approval before replacing any parts or carrying out any additional labor. The service was promptly completed by 05:00 PM in the evening. And then the adviser dropped the bomb. The total charges amounted to Rs 10,107, out of which Rs 5,525 was only for labor (the remaining charges were for replaced parts,. oil etc). Among the labor charges, I have been charged Rs 2,700 as charges for the 20,000 kms which I am aware is the standard charge for this service. Apart from this I have been charged Rs 600 for engine care and Rs 675 for engine flushing. I am clueless as to what these are. When I asked the lady adviser for explanation as to why my prior confirmation was not sought, there was no clear answer.
I feel that I have been conned. I have decided to stay with the car whenever it goes for service again. Once bitten, twice shy. Was this information helpful? |
