Today evening I was on the main road for purchase of my daily needs and during my 30 minute stay on the road and we saw 15 BMTC buses. The 9 out of 15 buses were empty and 8 out of 9 bus were Volvo bus.
The BMTC has around 5600 buses plying on the Bangalore city roads.We have a lot many buses but no passengers. Most of the extra trips are running with less than 10 per cent occupancy. There are more than 500 Volvo Buses plying and 8 out of 10 bus will have only Driver and conductor to travel. It is understood from the sources that BMTC is adding another 400 Volvo Buses, 200 Marco-polo Buses on Bangalore Road. With a general calculation which any Bangalore Citizen can make that with current state of affair BMTC must be incurring the a loss of Rs.8 Lacs per day. Infact this loss is covered from common man's pocket. The larger question is "Whether there is a need to incur huge loss at the cost of common men hard earned money?. Who are being befitted with the purchase of so many Volvo Buses for BMTC?. Is there any one on this earth to question this corporation for all these losses.
There is a need to re-look towards the purchase made by this corporation during past 3 years.
