Credit Card — Unfair billing
Reference My Credit card No. [protected]This relates to my recent three bills on my Platinum card. The one dated Aug 09,2009 got delayed in payment on account of a tragedy in the family, the late payment panelty on which was graciously waved on my request. However, in the next bill dated Sept 08,2009, interest and service charge were levied. That was strange considering that you can charge either interest for late/non-payment or late payment charges, but not both. So the gesture of waving late payment fee meant nothing. Anyhow, I dropped the cheque in the Aashiana, Lucknow Branch before the due date (SBI cheque No. 625445 dated 5.9.09 for Rs. 12015.72, minus the interest and service charge). In the next bill dated Oct 9,2009 the amount of the previous statement was included. On checking, I was told that the cheque was not presented to my bank for payment because the credit card No. was wrong, while it was a number that appeared on the statement. The fact is that I was never informed of the discrepancy despite the fact that there was my phone number at the back and it could have been easily corrected. I am made to pay the interest and service charge nearing Rs.1000. Several calls to your call centre later, I find your customer care personnel helpless in doing anything.
In desperation, I have made the payment of the full amount which is not fair on the part of ICICI, decidning never to use the card again. Already, it has left a bad taste and if the onus is continued to be put entirely on me even after this communication, I have to throw away the card and would not think it a coincidence that your bank's name has so many I's in it.
Not very hopeful,
Yours respectfully,
Raman Kapur
