[Resolved]  Deccan Properties, Bangalore — Non-refund of advance money paid and failure to register the promised property

I booked a 2400sq. ft. land in the Daffodils project in Sriperumbudur in January 2008 when Deccan properties confirmed that they have the panchayat approval and were just awaiting the DTCP approval. I paid an advance amount of Rs. 3 lacs and they promised to have the land registered to me in a few weeks. I also received a letter from Deccan in June 2008 stating that the plots are ready for registration and till now nothing has happened. After a lot of follow up, Deccan properties issued me post dated checks refunding the Rs. 3 lacs along with interest of Rs. 72, 000. The checks were all dishonoured and it looks like Deccan properties has opened accounts in quite a few banks just to issue checks and all the checks are being returned for insufficient funds. They have closed their office in Chennai now.

I live in US and went to Bangalore and located their office and had to wait for hours together to meet Mr. Venkat Goutham. After a long wait of 5 hours in their office, got to meet Mr. Venkat Goutham and after a lot of haggling he gave us a new set of checks for Rs.3, 72, 000 payable in 2 instalments and the first check has been dishonoured. He then came out with a new brilliant idea of giving us plots somewhere else which is about 12 kilometers inside from the main road. And of course, this is in collaboration with his friends in Chennai who say they are trying to help Mr. Venkat Goutham. I have been begging them to just give me the land for the Rs.3, 72, 000 they owe me, but they say that they need cash flow and we cannot register anything less than one ground and we have to pay the difference of another Rs.5, 00, 000/ . There is no one responsible in that office who would even respond to our phone calls and all emails that we send are returned undelivered.
I hope the consumer complaints authorities takes appropriate steps to help me get back my money.
