[Resolved]  Govt, Of Delhi Ncr/ Union Urban Dev. Min. — Proposed congestion Tax

Subject: Imposition of congestion Tax Vs Public Transport.

Respected Mr. Reddy,

I have a chance to read TOI front page news item where Minister is reported to be quoted as saying "Upwardly mobile Indians as a car-crazy lot". He has further quoted Singapore model as a solution to the problem of road congestion.

Dear Sir, when we talk of some model , we talk of it in totality - not a model minus KILLER BLUE LINE BUSES. In fact in our country, ministers and top Govt. functionaries never use public transport instead they make use of Luxurious Govt. Hospitality. So , they are not aware of public vows and amount of time , effort & energy needed to go public transport apart from associated risk involved to public life . CM herself is on record to say that she dare not board a BLUE LINE BUS. YOU yourself must not have traveled incognito in a BLUE LINE.

It is wrong to say that average INDIAN is car-crazy. Average Indian is neither crazy nor can he afford to bear CAR maint. costs. He is forced by circumstances to adopt this mode of travel. You can not imagine two hours driving tension on DELHI roads. This has prompted many to hire drivers.

If only Minister,MPs, MLAs take a pledge to use only public transport, things can change instantaneously. But seldom said than done, they can only preach than practice though they profess themselves to be followers of BAPU.

It is only politician who did not allow a healthy public transport to grow in this country in 60 yrs. with a view to promote car industry and now they want to drag back car industry to make a kill in transport sector.

Why not make a free gift of BLUE LINE BUSES to Singapore to stop its growth whereby INDIA may gain at its cost. For someone to issue sermons to others , one must taste the luxury of BLUE LINE travel himself/herself first. It stops every 500 meters and remain standing for minutes together waiting for more passengers, calling for more passengers, then starting and again stopping at the call of another passenger, then speeds up in the end . Bus makes deafening noises,it is filthy inside, seats are torn, there are 4/5 conductors who go on goading passengers to push forward and squeeze every minute , women passengers are pinched and screamed. By the time the passenger finishes his two hours arduous journey with destiny of taking birth in INDIA, he/she is completely exhausted for the day to be of any use at work place and start preparing for more arduous journey back home .

The other day CM was advocating a new philosophy that HIGHER POWER TARIFF WILL BE DETERRENT FOR CONSUMERS TO USE ELECTRICITY. Someone should ask her who wastes electricity ? It is GOVT. organisations and POLITICAL class who enjoy ELECTRICITY FREEBIE . Average common household are poorly lighted in the evenings since they can not even afford the existing tariff what to say of enhanced one . It is the ego of high and mighty that speaks occasionally apart from covering up their shortcomings of not being able to provide people with the basic necessity of life " ELECTRICITY" in 60 yrs. of independence. On the side lines it is to benefit power companies with more and more profit.
