[Resolved]  Honda Unicorn — Honda Unicorn-Carburetor

Would like to know after how many years one need to change the Carburetor of Honda Unicorn????
I was having starting problem with my Honda Unicorn and also it gets stopped after going few meters.
I called a service station person and asked him to pick the bike from my house.
After that I got a call from service station and I was told that my bike is serviced as I have told them but they are unable to set the mileage but starting problem is fixed temporary because AIR screw is jammed and it cannot be open.
They told me to replace the Carburetor (Price is app RS 2800) so that mileage can be set and also starting problem.
This is really shocking because I have never heard that bike Carburetor is being changed after 4.5 years & in 21500 KM.
Prior to Honda Unicorn also I was having bike but I have never changed the Carburetor in 13 yrs with more than 50, 000 KM.

Why Honda is creating such Carburetor? Why consumer will suffer if there is some fault in Carburetor.

hi Sujit even I faced this problem twice, got this problem in 2005 model that time also I replaced the CARBURETOR, and currently I have honda unicorn 2008 model and again faced the same problem. I don't know why Honda is not looking this issue seriously. I am very much disappointed with honda Brand. And even I also changed circular rubber gasket shown above, but after 15 days I faced the same issue. Now I am again taking decision to replace carburetor which is a cost Rs. 5400/-
it tru that air nut most o[censored]nicorn bike jamed with in 6 month and there is no way to open except change of carburator as i have some problem with my bike unicorn
I have a problem with my 3 year old Honda unicorn bike. The bike starts but the moment I accelerate the engine stops. In the rainy season, this gets worst. Some time during travel if I change the gears the moment I leave the clutch the engine stops and jump-starts. The service center does not seem to have an answer to the problem. I have tried changing the spark plug, cleaning the tank, cleaning the carburetor, changing the diaphragm in the carburetor. Engine de-carb. Nothing seams to work. The worst thing is the problem is not consistent. Does not happen all the time, which makes me look like a fool at the service center. If anyone has resolved problem pls Contact at sujeet.[protected]@live.com.
Ya Sujeet, Even I have the same problem. My bike is 2 yrs old. ND m having this silly problem Since I have purchased the bike.
The sole answer to this problem is to Replace the Carburetor, Which is also a problem with Honda Services, They never have Spares in Stock, Poor Guys, I Pity them...
Hi Sujeet,

I am too facing the same problem. Did your problem get resolve?
Hi people, I have been facing the same issue as Sujeet twice. Finally the problem was resolved by replacing the CARBURETOR DIAPHRAGM. It costs around Rs.250/- for third party one and maybe around Rs.500/- for Honda Original.

It is a circular rubber gasket that fits into the carb. It had solved the problem in the past, but after two years the problem resurfaced. I changed the diapragm today again, and the problem seems to have been solved.

I will update if the problem persists, if not, consider it solved.

Hope this helps.

My Honda unicorn bike is the low mileage problem and not setup for anyone else firstly my bike is getting 60kmpl but now its get only 30kmpl the service centre buys set the carb but till its given the same what should I do.
Me too have a unicorn 160, in which I was getting 55kmpl mileage initially. All services were done only at Honda authorized service centers. I used to change d engine every 2500 km with genuine Honda oil. After 1 year of purchase, at 12500km odo mileage went down to 35kmpl even though riding at below 50 kmph speeds on highways. Missing was severe just 600 km after service. New sparkplug from Honda was Fowled. Replaced air filter. While cleaning carburetor from an experienced local mechanic, found a stray copper string wound on main needle, also that needle was bent. I have only serviced before at Honda authorised centers. Someone has switched a defective piece into my bik. Total 600 rs spent outside to make my bike smooth. Now returning above 50 kmpl.
Never trust Honda guys. These make ur bike worse . they just try to create problems to our bike so DAT they know u will go there and they get commission for work. Better goto any experience d mechanic outside..
Count me too in the list. I purchased Honda Unicorn in 2009 and now facing problem with Carburator. I changed rubber gasket but now the jet needle is broken. My mechanic is suggesting me to change carburator than changing some parts... It's always better to resolve the issue by replacing new one than having temporary solution.. which may land you in trouble again.
Never trust Honda guys, the service center hire non- experience guy with low cost or they make your bike such as you have to come back again. I have several bad experience with Honda Service center... one of which, they broke the carburetor while washing it and I have to buy it new one of RS 5000 approx.
I have purchased unicorn 150 in 2012 My Honda unicorn bike is the low mileage problem and not setup for anyone else my bike is getting not more than 45kmpl from I purchased but now its get only 35kmpl the service centre buys set the carb, changed air filter, plug but till its giving the same. I think Honda has to do so improve the quality of carburator. it's worst experience from Honda. They sys to change the same having cost Rs 6000.
Hi guys,
I am using Honda Unicorn 2008 model. I did all the services promptly. but I am experiencing missing issue for the last two years. I spent too much for that and no solution. When I enquired about other Unicorn users they told me that they are also experiencing the same. I don't why can't solve such an issue? Now I am asked for carburetor replacement (6300/-). I dont know what to do. Really fed up. Can you suggest a solution. Lost trust in Honda. Planning to buy a different company.

Hi I bought Unicorn 150 may/14/2018 after used to do proper services in 3rd service they done service and Bike given to me one day i saw oil was comming out from the engine i went to service center they some ring issue we have and cleaned carborator after i used to face problem like while riding on bike automatically stopping (i.e when petrol is not the bike) really very bad experience from Honda contiguously going to service center to find out to fix the problem.
I bought Honda Unicorn 150 July 2018 and driven just 36300 KMs only. Now, the service centre guys broke the carburetor while washing the bike and they are suggesting change the carburetor and i spent Rs. 6000/- for it.
It is worst experience with Honda Unicorn and their Manasoravaar Service Center in Chennai is worst. They are cheating. I never heard change the carburetor even more than 1.5 Lakh KMs ran the bike.
