[Resolved]  HTC Touch — Warranty - No repair or replacement on failure

I am Madhav resident of Pune, Maharashtra. I have purchased hTc P-3300, and right from the day of purchase (March 16, 2008) it became a headache dealing with Customer Service Center and Technical Service guys. Fortunately I have a habit to note down all details like name, date & time of call, while talking to any Tele Support Persona. Special thanks to All Credit Card Phone Calls.

Following is the complete list of calls/conversation.
Date of Purchase: March 16, 2008
First time hang: with in 2-3 days of purchase.

List of calls and Verbal/e-mail communication with hTc Service Center/Technical Support

Representative: Manoj
Date & Time: 20-03-08, 13:00
Me: I reported the slowness, auto multi select mode switching and hang..
Solution Suggest: s/w problem, format it once using “Clear Storage” option in settings.

Me: Same problems and given the Case ID.
Solution: reinstall the Windows Operating System
In this case I had been there personally.

Date & Time: Afternoon, March 22nd or 23rd, 2008
Me: The problem is still persist.
Solution: Now we need to change the motherboard of the device. But we need to wait for 2-3 weeks for get the motherboard from the company.
This was conversation on phone.

Now after waiting for almost 4 weeks, waiting to get a call from Technical Support, I called up.

Representative: Receptionist
Date & Time: Afternoon, April 21st, 2008
Me: Does motherboard got available now?
Representative: Get your device to Center.

Now here I found Mr. Roopam has not updated the system/people there and I had to repeat all the things happened 3-4 weeks back.
After depositing the device at center, engineer said I will get the device tomorrow, i.e. on March 22nd, 2008.

Representative: Receptionist
Date & Time: Afternoon, April 22st, 2008
Me: Is the device ready?
Representative: It would take another 3 days.
Me: Why?
Rep: It takes time for motherboard to get available.
Me: But you said yesterday that motherboard is available and get your device. Also yesterday while giving the Job Sheet, engineer said it will be done by tomorrow.
Rep: Let me talk to engineer.
Engineer: The device is ready and under testing, you can collect it in next 1-2 hours.

Now here one can observe, there is NO co-ordination exists. Around 4 weeks back Engineer says he has log the requirement. When I called, there was no such a log.
Even on the promised date representative says it will take 3 days, engineer says, device is ready and on testing.

So after receiving the device by replacing motherboard, the problem increased dramatically high. I had to hard reset the device at least 10 to 15 times a day. There were no certain steps to make the device hang. Even in many points it hang while I had kept it on my table and was not in use for long time .

So now I again called up service centre. I could not connect to Pune center for whole that day. So I called up toll free number. Data as follows

Representative: Will talk to senior and will call in next 2 hrs.

Representative: call tomorrow 9:30 AM.

By the time I got success to get through the call with the engineer who had replaced the mother board. After knowing the problem is still there, he talked to his senior at Delhi and said to me, we will again replace the motherboard.

To make the problem more dark, the prequency of hang and need of hard reset increased to 20-25 times a day and finally on Friday, 24th it did not show up after reboot. I put on for charging thinking, the battery would be low, whole night. But it did not show up any further.

Now looking at all the things happened, I have decided to request for device replace ment and on Saturday, 25th, I personally went to Technical Center. Here I meet Mr. Ramesh Pulli, Head Mobile Division. He told me that he does not have authority to sanction the replacement and I have to write to the company using www.hTc.com => Support => e-mail option.

According to Mr. Ramehs, I wrote e-mail on Monday 28th. I did not get any response from hTc by Tuesday 29th, so I called Mr. Ramesh and asked about it. He said team is working on it and wait for another day, hTc will directly call you. By waiting till 30th and not receiving the call, I called up again. Conversation is as follows.

Me: Ramesh is manager mobile operations, Pune.
Representative: transferred the call to his TL, Mr. Gaurav.
Mr. Gaurav, TL: We will work on it. Give us 1-2 days. But I cannot give any commitment on time lines.
Me: But Ramesh said team is already working on it since two says, so why need more days and why cannot give commitment on time lines?
Gaurav: Mr. Ramesh, TL Pune is the one to be contacted for replacement. We are technical support and do not entertain these kind (replacement) of things. If you wish, talk to Mr. Vijay Biju on[protected], he is Manager Customer Service, Pune. Thanks for calling hTc. Have a nice day (and the call was dropped by Gaurav)

Now I again called Mr. Ramesh. He said he will call me back in 10-15 minute. This was 13:40 in the clock. After waiting for his call for around 2 hours, at around 15:30 hours, I called up him again.

Mr. Ramesh: I am talking to my senior. He is on tour. I will call you in the morning tomorrow. We will provide you a better solution.


Now one would get boared even while reading as well. And still I do not have any concrete solution from hTc/Technical Support/Customer Service.

i was about to purchase this mobile over nokia but now i fell i would have felt sorry later on...i think these kind of forums bring you the real picture rather than those which only talk about good features...

My suggestion - DON'T BUY HTC. I have a HTC Touch that I bought paying Rs.20000 one year ago. Now the phone is dead and just out of warranty, so they ask me pay 80% of the new phone to replace the motherboard. HTC is just a rip off. Dont buy them.

there is some problem in ur htc device. after purchasing a device this one is locked n after trying personally n urs retailers it was not unlocked at the moment. i[censored] have any solution regarding the matter so plz call me on my mobile no [protected].

because it was useless for me right now.

i too had purchased htc touch 2mnths back...its not functioning on todays date..i went to customer service in okhla delhi but the response justa nonsense..."ur motherboard is damaged completely and u need to replace it...charge will be the same as ur purchase price"...i was shocked hearing that.."same as purchase price"...wat bout one year warranty..wat about the price of camera..sound speaker..frame..other internal devices...keyboards...it was really ridiculous to hear that from a company like that...i just said u live long with ur company..its really high time we all htc users join together to fight to eradicate that company...htc authority really need to focus in it or else it wont take long to throw throw out...

i bought my phone 3months back..it never fell, it never got even a drop of waiter in it..yet they are telling me that there is moisture in it..i wonder how..n they say there is no repair for it under warranty..
i have to pay 2500 bucks to get my screen changed

I will not buy HTC again.

I spent over 17000Rs on a HTC Touch just over a year ago - a month after the warranty is up, they tell me that the main board has failed and it would cost over 10, 000Rs to get it fixed. This is at the Delhi Okla service centre. I sincerely have doubts that they are competent or know what they are doing. I think its a bunch of half trained who would rather have done with the problem than fix it and give their stock answer that the board has failed.

I mean, I expect a phone this expensive to last a lot longer than 13 months. I loved the features, size and design, but if the board fails so quickly, I have no interest in owning another product from this company. It was money down the drain.

Unless the CEO of HTC is stupid or about to screw the company, he will do something about the poor customer service that he and his company provides.

If he does nothing about it, HTC will disappear and the brand name will become a thing of the past. A great idea ruined by shortsightedness and failure to understand THE CUSTOMER.

So Mr CEO ...are you a failure or are you a man who is capable of fixing all these problems?

i buy htc 3400, from first day onward i am facing hanging, camera, recieving call, touch keys problem. i visited twice to service center, they are doing hard reset and giving back.sometime blaming on GB card. no responcce from custermercare and service center. plse donot buy this stupid phone. better go for china made moblie compare to htc. NAAM BADA DARSHAN KHOTA.

I beg to differ..Didn't have any problems with my HTC devices which I've been using for the past 18 odd months.

I got a P-3400i 2months back..
Its backlight does not turn off, till turned off manually.. costing to unnecessary battery loss..
Further, many times when I get calls, it is not shown in the set.. leading to false rings..
Really fed-up with this set.. Feeling like throwing it off
just 1 question ppl .. why all HTC phones have only mother board problem .. i want to sell dis crap .. p3400i is like pain in neck for me .. oh god.. NIBM service centre in pune has got the worst ppl dere .

No wonder I am not alone suffering with the same problems. had bought HTC handset and I am paying for that decision.

I have been facing similar problem as all of you guys and same people are dealing with my complaints - Gaurav, Jyoti, Vikas, etc.

If any one is planning to buy HTC product... my advice - throw the money in the pond, distribute it in under privileged but
DON'T BUY HTC PRODUCTS.
This way you'll be blessed with peace of mind.

I now know what HTC stands for - Hundredways of Torturing Customers.

God know how much more do I have to suffer before i finally decide to throw this set away and but a new one... I am not going to leave them for cheating me either.
I had purchased one touch screen HTC latest model ( with scroll system) from Kolkata of worth Rs 16, 000 INR.Had a very bad exeperience within 10-15days as it went down and no more could switched on.Again had to lodge a complaint and the set was the dealer for more than 3-months .thereafter once again it went out within a week time .again resent n got it repaired .howver finaly the set is down .out of lot of curiosity had gone spending a huge amount .but at the day end it was all frustation for such poor reponse toward service from such an international company .
Now am in Guwahati .Do not know what to do and where to go .
Can you help out .Can provide all relevant documents of complaints n purchase etc.
Pl do honour to customer complaints as ultimately customers money .

Dear Sir, ( complaint to HTC TAIPAI)

I have purchased S720 handset in PUNE, INDIA on 22/09/2008. The handset had to be sent to service center two times.

first time the battery was faulty, and I got it replaced after a long follow up of 10 days.

This time the KEY PAD stopped responding and I had to give it for repair at your TILAK ROAD, PUNE, INDIA service center. It is now 15 days, and there is no clear indication when I am getting the replacement or repaired hand set.

There are confusing answers coming from the service center employees, who seem to be disinterested in the customers interests.

It gives a feeling that not your company, but your competitors are paying these service center persons.

If this continues, the day is not far when an otherwise good and cost competitive product will be out of Indian market.

Please respond and act to show that somebody cares for customers in your company,

My name is Mirza Amir Baig, I am LUCKNOW .i purchased HTC P3300 .8month ago. i was out of station for 3 days.. phone was switched off ..when i switched on the phone again.. touch screen is not working..i am continuosly searching for the service centre but no dealer can tell me the exact address.

My brother has also got HTC and same problem has occured on his set ..he gave the phone to dealer fromwhere he purchased and its almost 3 month now but no one knows where the phone is now and when he will get itback

I request the other HTC user to be aware because after sales service is pathetic

I have the same problem as well my Handphone start to hang have sent in for repair at first the Engineer mention that the ROM need to be update. It work fine the first day, then it happen to be slow again after the second day. Imediate the mobile phone become more worst... have to hard reset as many time possible.. And HTC phone can be use only about 12 month...

It's really sad. function is good, features is good, but service is really important, it will cost me repair RM 888 for the motherboard... and the engineer mention the repair is not under warranty.. if the thing still persist after 3 month... The company is not reliable... I think HTC have to take seriously on the quality of the product and services this will help to boost up overall sales & win market demand.

i bought htc touch p3452 on 13 of october 2008 i face many proble till now n i gave my mobile to service center 6 time for the date of purchase . today i receive my mobile from service center their is some probl in mother board & the service person told me that come after 10 day i ll change mother board . after 10 days when i receive my mobile i saw my mobile body was change they change my good condition boby with some other scrthy body i told that person then he told me that come after a week i ll give u new body when i goes to service center they gave me ma cell it is good from front bt back was scrathy ... n my imei no steker also change n told your imei no is change n they gave me no when i check they did not match...n today also my cell not workng properly n have mother board problm even i receive my cell today itself...
