[Resolved]  Nolambur CHennai — Bribe by Panchayat president Rajan

Address: Chennai, Tamil Nadu

I purchased one plot in a place called Nolambur next to Mugappair in Chennai...now i regret for havin invested in such a place....The place as such is good but the road, the drainage system above all the governing body of Nolambur Panchayat is simply horrible....
The plot which i brought costed me 40lakhs where as when i approached the Panchayat board president Rajan he is asking me near to 10 lakhs bribe for signing the papers...even though all the paper works are perfect the drawings are proper.Rajan seems to be a politically sound person and he is least bothered abt the norms...He says a sum of 30Rupees /sqft is a must to be paid to him as a share of our joy of owning a plot in his home soil....
He has become a big multi millionare with so many cars ,apartments and business firms all by gettin bribes from ppl who pay him silently without questioning him....Now dat i opposed he is giving me unwanted prbs by makin ppl trouble in each and every manner...is there any means to come out of the menace called Rajan who is causing so much prbs to many ppl like me? Is it possible to get approval by any other means?

Nolambur Panchayat — Bad Roads

The roads Particularly Sriram Nagar MAin Road is in a very bad shape though used by over 2000 families. Will the authorities do something before the next Monsoon.
Bribe alone is 30rupees per sqft
As Mr, Masilamani said i have also faced a lot of problems because of this Nolambur panchayat president Rajan. I own a plot in Sri Ram nagar at Nolambur, on approaching this president Rajan for plan approval for a individual house construction on my plot he asked 18lakhs as bribe apart from other legal fees...When i resisted he never signed the papers and made me wait for 2 years without signing the papers till now.
When i questioned the reason for not signing the paper he said there is no road access for the plot which i own . He claims that the patches of roads which are not being tar topped even now are private lands owned by several people, so it seems he is collecting the money from plot owners and he is gonna convince the land owners and make them agree to let him lay the road.
I really wonder if he is sayin the truth or jus finding a lame reason to earn more money from plot owners.
This Nolambur Panchayat President Rajan deserves a place in jail along with his mentor/leader/etc ex-mla Ranganathan who was arrested yesterday. How he was left out is a mystery as he was Ranganathan's accmplice in all land grabbing and crimes, bribery committed in Nolambur, and Adyalampaattu village. Apart from bribe these anti-socials have acquired flats in DABC (Flat # 7-A1) in Dabc Mithilam, Ranganathan has acquired a villa in S&P Homes, Adyaalampaatu. They have also usurped many government lands (read poromboke lands). This Rajan is a criminal who will talk as if he is the President of India to anyone who goes to him for approvals. They should be punished severely and the punishment should be a deterrent for future Panchayat presidents
I dont think this crook wil ever get caught . I happned to see the new house he has built, this fellow is sure to have high level influence.Thats the ill fate of Nolambur
I am one of the residents of Nolambur affected by this Rajan. I strongly know that he is NOT a high-level influential fellow. He takes huge money and takes his own cool time (not in days but in months) to give the approvals…An absolute sadist element. Rajan has gained (over) confidence on account of two reasons. (1) His mentor & ‘business partner’ Ranganathan & (2) We common men, many of whom have paid money to him even without a small resistance. He has a good tongue and NOT a good back bone.
We residents are equally to be blamed….. I have heard lot of stories where even government servants (some of them even retired IAS/IFS officers) have paid bribes to Rajan even without a murmur. DABC, VGN and other builders have their own sad stories for getting their approvals done from Rajan (backed by Ranganathan). The rate was…per kitchen basis… In spite of being influential, the builders maintained their cool for business reasons. Nobody gives him a good fight. I personally gave him a very good fight for my approval… and won…at last. I strongly believe that if we all residents join together in large, we can throw this fellow out.
Rajan's tenure comes to an end this Sep'11. Let us jointly ensure that we select the right person (by voting) in the coming local election.
I reside in DABC Mithilam, what has this Nolumbur president rajan done for the betterment of civic amenities all these years?. Apart from Rajan, the other Councillors and Ward Members of Nolambur have also not done anything to Nolambur. we are put to live with bad roads, improper street lights, garbage strewn around everywhere in the roadsides, no sewage or sewage being let out in roads.
I believe we can get a remedy only if one of our residents or anyone who resides in the other apartments nearby come forward and contest the October local body elections from Nolambur. We can teach this Rajan and other ward members of Nolambur a proper lesson. apart from being corrupt he turns a deaf ear to all the complaints made by the residents. his arrogance has to be properly rewarded by ignoring him this election. None of these corrupt persons should be elected again!
Nolambur panchayat is a reserved constituency. We will have to identify and pick the right guy and it is a big challenge….but still workable.
The main advantage of these crooks is that we are scattered and separate. When an individual goes for any approval, he is alone. Naturally, his mindset will be to buy peace rather than giving a fight. We all (through some means) should join together for our own welfare and for our future generation/society (I really do not know how…may be we can invite suggestions from the residents and stay connected and united). I was told by an active & sincere resident of Nolambur that there is a very poor response from the residents when the association calls for a meeting. May be, we can start from here….. by attending the meetings regularly and raise our voice for the right cause. Let us travel beyond blogging (including myself !).
Now that Nolambur has come within Chennai Corporation limits, we can wait and watch if we could get better amenities. but looking at areas like Virugambakkam, Saligrammam, Velachery areas which are already in corporation limits, i have apprehensions about immediate improvement to Nolambur. if one travels through the inner areas of Saligrammam, KKnagar, we can see that still drainage, storm water drain works are incomplete and the roads remain dug up for most of the time.
Seeing the mad rush for the Corporation councillor post, (which is a honourary post without any renumeration!) we can be assured that the councillors would start the hunt for improving their wealth and the other things are secondary to that only. Why would a person be interested in a post which does not have any renumeration, - just to serve the people?.
lets wait and watch what improvement happens to Nolambur area in this regime atleast.
