regading passport status why it got delayed

With due regards, I wish to state that I have applied for my passport on December 2006. The Details are:
Applicants Name: Vartika Gupta
Father’s Name: Mr. Virendra Kumar Gupta
Mother’s Name: Mrs. Krishna Gupta
Date of birth: 03/01/1986
Permanent Address: 7/20, Sadar Bazar, Sagar (M.P) - 470002
Present Address (as in passport form): Room No. S-10, Smt. Sarojini Naidu Girls Hostel, S.G.S.I.T.S., Y. N. Road, Indore (M.P.) - 452003
My police verification was done on March 2007. Since then I haven’t received my passport. Also, I tried to inquire about the same in Bhopal office and Indore office. But they didn’t give any significant information regarding the same. Till now, I haven’t received my passport.
I have lodged a Grievance (MEAPD/E/2008/00938). It is in the RPO, Bhopal's queue since 28 August 2008. And the online apllication status site, it doesn't show my application status anymore.
Sir, I need the passport urgently. Please respond to my query and advice what I need to do to get my passport as soon as possible.

I have applied for passport on nov 22nd 2009... but i didnt recieve it yet... the status in the concerned site is always the same "It is to regret... now will be dispatched in a week's time"
Its been 4 months since I have applied for passport, it has been verified but nt yet dispatched. I need to go abroad urgently comming week....I mailed the officer but still there is no reply....Kindly help me regarding the same
There are frequent complaints that passport not received, abnormal delay, no response from RPO etc.Government has enacted Right to Information Act - 2005 vide which a person can ask the status of his passport, which the department has to reply with in 30 days of receipt of query under RTI.This will solve the problem of the applicants.
