Passport Office, Mumbai — Spelling Error in my passport no - G1727025 so pls respond.‏

sir,
i had applied for my passport 2 months back and found on the status check page that my husband's name being spelt wrongly-thigarajan instead of thiagarajan.(letter 'a' missimg).I went to the passport office directly and checked with my file number which said -thiagarajan(the correct spelling).Anyway the though it is proper in their records, the APO turned down my complaint stating that i do not have a xerox copy of the applied form(which is a proof to prove the right spelling). now, had i spelt wrong, how can they have the correct spelling on their records? I understand that every govt sector is irresponsible and negligent, i want to stop the blame game and get my job done.

I would like to know the procedures that i ve got to follow in regard to getting the spelling right.Do i need to publish an advertisement in any newspaper? i ve got our marriage registration certificate which spells his name correctly.will that do? and can i apply for it in tatkal? pls clarify my queries at your earliset. Am due to join my husband who is at the States.

Spelling Error in my passport no - j9101409 so pls respond.‏
I, ALMAS SHAIKH resident of Mumbai, India has renewed my passport in recent months but my address one word is Spelled wrong - its GANGA bldg Name (U instead of GANG).only this was mistake n i wrote perfect in the passport form My pass port no is J9101409

Please let me know asap the procedure to get it rectified.
