Ref: Ticket purchased under TATKAL PNR #[protected]
I would like to bring the following for your kind attention and necessary action.
I went to Trichy reservation counter on 13/01/2010 around 7 PM and requested two berths in two tier A/C by train no. 6178 for onward journey to Chennai for self - 70 years of age and my wife - 65 years of age to travel on 14/1/2010.
The lady at the counter informed that only TATKAL is available. I purchased the ticket accordingly.
When we checked the chart in front, to my surprize I noticed about THIRTY BERTHS were OPEN.
When TTE came in to check our tickets - I asked about the same. He Mr. Xavier Dharmaraj - confirmed open berths! he showed me the chart also. The compartment was half empty - till chennai.
Till now, we don't understand why the lady at trichy, reservation counter informed me "ONLY TATKAL RESERVATION IS AVAILABLE".
We feel we have been erroneously charged at Trichy and denied "Senior Citizen Fare" in this particular situation.
We request you kindly treat our travel under Senior citizen category from Trichy to chennai.
I feel I am eligible for the refund for the extra amout I incurred by not using my senior citizen concession as well as by paying extra amount for TATKAL reservation.
