[Resolved]  Rto — RE REGISTRATION TAX ON MY CAR

In Dec 2008, I moved to Pune from Jaipur. I carried Four Wheeler (Tata Indigo) along with me. Recently traffic authorities caught my vehicle and asked to pay registration tax of Maharashtra. When I checked at RTO Pune, the tax comes to Rs. 39, 000 approximatley which is quite shocking. Moreover my job is on transferable basis and within 2 years I may get shift to another state. I feel that if this is the law wiht every state, I would end up in paying double of the car value in 10 years only which does not seem logical. Being an Indian, I should have right to drive my vehicle in any state. However I agree that state transport authorities may charge annual tax but paying one time tax which is 7% of Invoice value is unreasonable. Pls help.
