[Resolved]  shopperdiscounts.co.uk — money taken from my visa account

Dear complaints board,
Having just read some statements given by people having money taken from their account unwillingly the same thing has happened to me.
shopper discounts has taken eight pounds from my account for ten months, I feel so angry that I just didn't realise, early on.

I contacted the Halifax visa company who has not been very supportive over this matter. they said that i will probably get one months payment back. I had to cancel my so called subscription via an automated phone call to shoppers discounts giving out my visa number,
they had my email address already and have not replied to me via email as they said they would.
my visa company said that if i didn't cancel my subscription I would have to pay the monthly bill even if I cancelled my card. As you can imagine I will cancel my visa when this is sorted out.

I have been with the Halifax for over twenty years and this is the way they treat loyal customers.

please be aware people reading this you are not as protected using your visa via the Internet as you may think.
yours sincerely
elaine .

I have just discovered the same money transfers being made by Shopper Discount on my account. I have reported them to my bank Abbey, who initially advised me to call shopper discounts and cancel what ever it is I had unknowingly signed up to. However when calling them I was given one option to provide my bank details over the phone (Not a Chance) and the second being to provide a reference number which I do not have. I have no idea when or how they obtained my details …..

I have called my bank back and spoken to their fraud department who are going to investigate and try and get my money back. They have cancelled my card and are issuing me with another one; this is so that Shopper Discounts are unable to continue transferring money out of my account.

I can’t believe that this as being going on for some ten months now without me realising …..
I got the same situation! I don't know how could the shopperdiscount can just easily take the money from my Master Card!!! I feel so angry! I never give my card number to anyone! I think that's against the law!!! ~
By the way I just checked my email. I found that they charge the money becouse last i booked the NATIONAL EXPRESS ticket and sign a cash back notice of the shopperdiscount thing, and now i check the policy they have and found they will charge you the membership fee monthly! 10 pound per month! and i haven't get cash back! Never sign any charming notice again!!!

I too fell for this on ebookers site. All I did was tick a box and enter my email for a further discount with ebookers if i booked again within 30 days. I did not give my credit card details to shopperdiscounts.co.uk, I was unaware that ebookers would pass on my credit card details I used for my booking onto shopperdiscounts.co.uk. shopperdiscounts.co.uk then deducted £10 per month until I realised.

I have since contacted the Office of Fair trading which I advise everyone effected to do...[protected] they have told me they will refer shopperdiscounts.co.uk to trading standards if they receive enough complaints.

Lets stop this from happening again!
