I am a resident of Kolkata, Tollygunge, Chanditala and have been leaving there for the past 35 years. I commute mostly through the Metro Railway as that is most convenient. It is generally in the evening that I return from my job. After exiting from the Metro Railway premises, I have to walk along the road to catch manual rickshaws which drops me to my doorstep. The stretch from Metro Railway to the Rickshaw stand is a walker's nighmare. Firstly there is no pavement for communters to walk. Auto Rickshaws are parked in front of the Kali temple, then there are Taxis which are parked all haphazardly in front of the Public Toilet. The commuters have to walk through the busy road and in one occassion I almost got knocked down by a bus approaching from the other direction.
My complaint and suggestion would be to relocate the Auto and Taxi stands to atleast 50 meters away from the main junction so that commuters can walk freely along the stretch.
Regards
