I purchased a Western Digital Hard Disk in May 2009 for Backup purpose.
I tried to format the Disk sometime on later 2010 and it got corrupt.
WD provides a 5 years replacement guarantee on external hard disk and hence I requested for same, which was done promptly and it was a good experience.
But, within a month, the new Hard Disk got corrupt, when I tried to format it.
I raised a replacement request on 19th Feb' 2011. It was not picked up from my place for a month. Called a number of times and finally it was picked around 21st or 22nd of March' 2011. I kept waiting for replacement then and called them on 4th of April. They informed that the Hard Disk is shipped to me as per their records and gave Speedman courier's tracking number. I called the Courier Company and a very local lady asked me to be on hold and kept fighting with other Customers on other Phone and kept abusing Western Digital. She told me that the Drive came to Indore and was returned to WD because their Courier does not provide Service in the area I reside (WOW... Indore is not yet a big place that Couriers provide area-wise service and secondly why did WD chose such a Courier). So, I called back WD and asked for status, which they were not at all aware of.
After a number of calls and getting frustrated, I called the WD Support again on Tuesday, 19th April 2011 and it was a call of 1.5 hours, from which I was on hold for 1 hour. I talked to a Supervisor and explained the Scenario. He talked in a sweet tone, as always and made glittering promises, like I'll take care of this issue on my own and will escalate it. I'll give a status call tomorrow and on Friday and the people from Warehouse shall deliver the Hard Disk and will give You a status call also.
But, nothing has happened yet. It's Monday today. I've been trying to call their Support Number since morning and the Phone is engage.
Can anyone suggest me what to do.

wd — demand for octroi & service tax for delivery at home

i had log complaint on 3 march 2011 for WD HDD prob. same date the recived HDD from u r couriar thats thanks to but , when I get call from TNT Pvt ltd couriar service u r HDD are come from WD ..... r u recived from our office or deliverd at u r home when i told them pls delivre at home, them give me ans if we deliverd at u r home u pay for that octroi & service tax .............. if ur policy u hv alreaady pay for us them y they hv demanding for all... after two days i take self my HDD in TNT office... pls take action with them ..... otherwise end user hv pay his service tax & all fake charges to TNT ............. my RMA no. is 82544603 need rply at same ........... shridhar .a.shimpi [protected]
