i totally disagree with this.
the site is selling a mobile of Rs 15000 for Rs 300- 400 to individual but ultimatly earning a 400-500% profit in that, its illegal n unethical. if this is real biding then u should refund the money of all those who do not got success in that. or for a bid of 10 paisa take only 10 paisa but not Rs 15-20. in which again earning 200-300 %. its just making fool of everybody n earning a quick money.
Eg for a mobile of 15000/. it takes some 4000 bids i.e., 4000*15(av cost of their per bid)= Rs60000.
nw u can see this on that site also.
totally unethical.

Well, I think BuyAlmost is a site with great focus on the customer...though it can be difficult to win at times...what i have done is made use of the buy it now against the MRP and get a discount for the bids i have placed...this way i dont lose out on the bid amount...i have also won a ps2 and got it within 5 days...so i prefer shopping on BA...either i win or i use buy now !!
IT IS NOT BIDDING "ONLY GAMBLING"

Yeah true, its 100% Gambling! Time pass for people who find ways to spend their excess money. Not for ppl like me who earn with lot of hardness. But I had once participated in Buyalmost.com seeing winners who got PS3s and iPods for such crazy prices. I thought I would also have a chance. Bought around 80 bids for Rs.1600 or so. But I did not even win a single product! I felt so disppointed & dipressed for throwing away my money. I contacted BuyAlmost & told them my story! And alas! they refunded me the money! Thanks to BA. But i don't think refunding is such a big deal, because you people earn dream profits per auction!
Anyways its finally the creator of BA who wins always! He's got brains! :-)

I agree, I have bid in that and to say you true picture, they are CHEATERS, have their own people bidding... it a way they are making money. You might see an mobile phone sold at 1-2% of the price, but actuaaly its the bid which cost 11 rs for 10 paise. Also normal public would not win the bid. I have tried for 2 products and almost lost 20000 rs. So a kind request STOP using BUYALMOST or waste your money to these cheaters. Its a fraud
BuyAlmost has not responded to my complaints. they have neither refunded nor credited my bids. 500 Bids are gone missing mysteriously from my account which is worth Rs 6619. And there are many other problems I am facing. They have not allowed me to use the Buy Now option also. Please Help.
The following is the mail I have sent to [protected]@rnftechnologies.com in May 22, 2010 which is not responded till now.

Hello,
I have done a brief study of the bidding process which is under place
and I am not satisfied worth your system.
I have bought 1030 Bids (30+500+500) worth Rs. 14228.7 from
buyalmost.com. But till now I am not able to win even the lowest bid
product.
Following are the reasons why I am not satisfied with the system and
why I am not able to win.
1. The product Sony Cyber-shot DSC S2000 10.1 MP which is usually sold
at Rs. 65 to Rs. 110 till now, went up to the price of Rs. 499.80 when
I decided to place 500 bids using bid buddy. It is easily questionable
that from where the 4000 bids came for a product suddenly where the
normally placed bids are 700 only.
2. According to my observation, as I had placed the bids using bid
buddy, your system knew the amount of bids I am going to place and
hence deviated from the normal process. I do not want to question the
authenticity of the bidders and their physical existence but I am
definitely unsatisfied.
3. Mysteriously this product is not shown in my bid account and I am
removed from the bidder's list. The Actual auction Id shown in the
sold products list is 1436 but the Auction Id shown in my account is
10. And according to your system I have placed 0 bids for this
product.
4. Another product Apple iPod Touch 8 GB(Auction ID: 1419) which is
sold at a maximum of Rs. 316 went to 470.70 when i placed 323 bids.
Again questionable is how more than 2000 bids came in and who are the
bidders who suddenly popped up in the early morning 4 to 5 AM, May 22,
2010.
5. When I place a bid it resets the time to 15 secs. Then it
decreases. during the bidding process, around 5 to 10 single bidders
were active and bids when the time comes down to 5 sec every time I
bid. But I observed that when theses bidders placed a bid, none of the
other bidders place a bid until the time was 2 to 1 seconds left
unlike in my case.
6. Sometimes the countdown seconds decreases by 2 seconds. I lost the
bid for Apple iPod Touch 8 GB when i tried to bid at 2 seconds left
and then it turned to Ended. As said earlier, the other bidders never
bid before 2 seconds except for my bid. The time left that I had seen
for my bid is a minimum of 4 seconds.
7. Sony Cyber-shot DSC S2000 10.1 MP has a market price of Rs 5400
only and the shown amount is Rs. 6990. As 500 bid costed me Rs 6618, I
decided to use the BuyNow option. For that I had to may Rs 1990 more
making to a total of Rs. 8608 fro a Rs. 5400 product and a lots of
time. Is it worth?
8. Not only this, according to BuyAlmost Bid buddy users have an
advantage of winning which rarely happens. Moreover I didn't have the
Buy Now option which is a violation of your own Fair Auction
Guarantee.
9. As I monitor, I have a list of around 10 bidders in BuyAlmost who
are always active for all the products and bids 24x7. Is is humanely
possible?
So I want a monetary refund of the bids I have placed. I also want a
fair bidding process so that I can bid the remaining 177 Bids in my
account properly. If you do not agree please, refund my money for all
the bids I have bought and publish the physical existence of all the
bidders who were involved in the bids I have placed.
Hoping for your quick action.

buyalmost.com is a site just to make money. Special Caution to new users!! Their buyalmost.com bid system is system is very unstable. Most of the time they suffer from what they themselves call "INTERNET LAG" time. It simply means what ever you do, you can never be the last bidder (Especially on the high value items costing more than Rs.10, 000/-). What happens is you wait till the last 5 or 3 seconds to bid and then your bid never registers. The solution buyalmost.com offers is to use bidbuddy (where the system automatically bids on your behalf.) But this is only a money making technique used by buyalmost.com. In this way you loose all your bids at one go. Not only that, when you use bid buddy certain users seem to be able to outbid you even at 2 or 1 seconds!! And mostly the users able to do this are the same. Maybe system generated users working on behalf of Buyalmost.com. Sometimes even after your bid timer reaches 00.00.00 and shows "Ended" these users are able to bid and win.
TO SUMMARIZE: Please do watch at least some auctions till the end (Especially products costing more than Rs.10, 000/-) before you decide to bid on buyalmost.com. I have documented examples for lots of errors in buyalmost.com. I am also in the process of further monitoring and recording the auctions at buyalmost.com and am willing to share it with other users who have fallen prey to buyalmost.com errors and lost money.

Why the people from Buyalmost.com has not responded to Mr.MDSingh's detailed complaint filed 7 days ago. He seems to have complained again yesterday. But it seems they are unable to answer because he has found out their true business(Cheating????)tactics.
Not only were they not answering his complaints, it seems they have not answered quite a lot of complaints on this site from customers like Anil, hashid, des.
It was a good thinking, now I feel-before going in to buy bids, to monitor into complaints against buyalmost.com for the past 25days. Thay have not answered any one complaint in these days. God and you people have saved me.

I also did monitor the auctions to be sure and also played. MY OBSERVATION: I started playing for the less costly products since they end up early but found that when I am not playing and only observing, the auctions ended up quickly ie. within 150-200 bids or so. But whenever I start playing people just dont stop bidding. I dont understand this??? Certain times I have felt that the clock was speeded up to end the auction last 3 seconds not giving a chance for the other users to place their bid.
To check the less peak hours I also monitored the auctions and found that there are few users up all time 24/7. Dont they have any other jobs??? I mean I can understand if one is winning. But just keep on playing with more than 500 bids daily. I find it rather very strange for a sane person to keep on buying bids worth rupees 5000 plus on a daily basis and losing it. (although now i do see a few of those users wining)(Maybe BA has noticed this and changed their strategy?) Also noticed people wining 3 auctions in a weeks time and still playing.
Now their policy has changed check this email:
(Dear Users,
Greeting for the day!
This serves as a notice to inform you that as a change in policy, bids purchased on BuyAlmost will be valid for a period of 15 days from the date of purchase.
Users already having bids in their BuyAlmost account are hereby requested to make use of the same on or before June 21st, 2010.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
Best Regards,
Team - BuyAlmost)
Such a policy is a set back. BuyAlmost is already making huge profit. Then such a policy would only force the users to keep on buying bids every 15 days. It is a reap off. You advertise fair auction then why force people to play at once on any product.
So people beware...

i agree with rajesh...
this email which is mentioned above was a major setback. If we are purchasing the bids, why should there be any limit on the validity... and that too.. just 15 days... this is totally unfair.
recently i found this great site www.lootadda.com
and the best part is they don't bind us with limited validity. moreover they have a superb referral plan in force where we get free bids for lifetime... i was doubtful initially, but i myself have received more than 50 free bids. only thing is that these free bids have to be used within 15 days.
i am a fan of lootadda.. and i have won some excellent deals on lootadda...
i can't say about other websites... but i have tested lootadda many times... and i am writing on this laptop which i won on lootadda...

Hey,
I have visited website with similar concept and won a iPod after purchasing bids just of Rs. 1000/-.
Visit http://www.lootadda.com.
I would suggest for newbies, read the terms and conditions and beginners help care fully. Watch the products, even start with low cost product as there are less chances of bidders on that.
If you also won, share your comments with me.

I am Akhilesh from BuyAlmost.com and here to address your concern.
We checked our records and found that we have always complied with all your requests, including refund of money for one of your accounts. We prioritize customer satisfaction over everything else and make sure that we offer a great experience to our users.
BuyAlmost is a penny auction site where each placed bid increases the 'remaining time' and the price. This is a very popular form of auction and generates tremendous response, due to which in many a cases an auction goes on for a very long time. However, some auctions do end very quickly. It all depends on the user response to an auction.
The time does not increase and arbitrary manner neither does an auction end that way. An auction ends when there are no more bidders interested in placing a bid on the auction, and the last bidder is then declared as the winner.
We have mentioned all the relevant facts and details on our Help and How It Works page. We strive to reinvent the way India shops and have even brought in a unique Buy Now feature which in essence enables each user to be a winner. You can read up more about it on our Buy Now Help page.
Hope this resolves all queries and concerns.

Akhilesh
