[Resolved]  D. Pauls — Cheating & Harassment

I have booked a 4 N Goa Package with D pauls, Delhi for Rs 28k for June, 14 for 2 Pax very clearly discussing the cancellation terms & conditions with the executive multiple times ( 20 % deduction till 11 days) as i had a doubt that i might have to cancel my vacation as some family function might take place . . Because of same unavoidable conditions, which i predicted i will be not be able to go for the trip . When i requested for the cancellation on 7 th May, i was told that there will be a cancellation charge of 6 k . When i mentioned & clarified that as per the cancellation policy, the deduction should be of Rs 5600 only ( 20 % of 28 k), The executive came back with a new calculation that the airlines ticket have been issued & those are non cancellable & non refundable tickets so there will a 100 % deduction on airfare + 20 Cancellation charges .They send me the tickets & when i inquired from Indigo airlines, i was told that the tickets are very much cancellable but only by D pauls themselves with a deduction of Rs 1500/ ticket. When i informed the same to Dpauls, i was asked to arrange for a written confirmation from Indigo which i arranged .Post that i came across another . This time they said, they will now deduct 6000 for tickst cancelleation & 20 % separately from the total amount of 28 K making it a total of Rs11600 . When i raised my compliant to Dpauls, i came across another shock of my life . This time another gentlemen Mr Nagpal from D Pauls replied in an very offensive mail accusing me & stating that now the deduction would be full 20640 & the balance amount just Rs 300 odd Rs which will be refunded . The draconian & threatening style in which mail was written was like saying "do whatever you can do ", Now we will deduct full amount has taken me by shock & surprise . There were 5 different set of cancellation charges sent to me which shows the unprofessional manner in which D pauls deals with the customer & the malpractices it follows. I urge for an appropriate action on Dpauls for the mental agony & harassment & possible financial loss .

I think it was the same person Nagpal from Dpaul who left us with No option in Bangkok.

I had booked for a 4 star hotel in my package. The hotel was Windsor Suits.
Our room was hideous with insects crawling everywhere.
The local travel agent said that Dpaul knows of the poor condition of the hotel.

Informed Nagpal from bangkok, to which he said this is what you've got, if you do not like it, you may change the hotel at your own cost.
He was very very rude and refused any assitance what so ever.
They are cheaters. Lie to you.sodat listen to your problems. Had worst
they are cheater. All they want is money. Once they get the payment they dont Even pick the phone. We visit to europe tour through them and it waste worst experience. All the time they moved us around in the bus. No sight seeing no entertainment. I wasted my 3 lakhs...
Yes, In D-paul all staff is cheater including Nagpal.
Nagpal(froude legal advisor ) doesn't know how to speak with customer.They will never return your single amount of money if you change/cancel your plan date as I suffered.
I don't think to buy the package from non-professional company. I would suggest to all for any trip purchase the Air ticket from any website or any Airline. At least you can save maximum percentage of money till last day of cancellation.
why you pay extra amount whether for Air or land package and give them chance to make you fool.Every one can find best hotels and cabs online through websites its very easy just read the online reviews and comments and you will come to know about the hotels and any services.

a man named kuldeep singh sales person of domestic packages . we are a good customer of dpaul from 4-5 years but now we didn't had good servise response even we got cheated . even we did not got proper information bout the package.

Hello Guys My Name is Pradeep Joshi, I booked a Package through D paul on March 2013 my total package cost is arround 60k and i paid 30k at the tym of booking, but due to some medical prob we unable to carry on this tour and i asked to Mr. R S Nagpal for cancel this tour ( before 4 days of departure) he deny and said to me I have to deposit full amount of package after he ll decided how much money they refund me, HAHAHAH they people what thinks other person is fool they dont have mind ... after that he logged a legal case against me and now days Mai court ke chakkar laga raha hu, i swear i cant leave him. he did very much harass me, i m very much in trouble, so guys i requested to you dont book any package from D Paul, now days lots of tour company running in the market, so pls search and book tour from other company's but dont D Pauls... thanks

It was the worst journey I ever took, courtesy Dpaul. I had earlier packages for Asia and on domestic tours also and going by their reputation I didn't looked at any other operator. Everything went wrong from day 1, we a family of 4 missed a connecting flight from Helsinki to London as the transfer time was only 40 minutes and due to time taken at the security clearance and the change of gate that too at the extreme corner we missed out the flight and had to fork out 500 euros to buy fresh tickets (yet to hear from Dpaul read Mr R S Nagpal how to go about claiming refund from airline as normally in such cases you are accommodated free of cost in next flight, as per law International connecting flights need to have 2 hours of change over time). It only starts getting unsavoury from here, the contact number provided of the tour manager who was supposed to meet us at London was wrong and later got to know that even the tour manager was not even aware that she has been assigned our group. I communicated to Alok Chaturvedi, Manager about our missed flight still the information didn't get passed on to the person who had come to receive the group at London airport and entire group had to wait for 90 minutes looking for us. Then 2 days at UK was fine as it was nicely taken up by local tour manager Ms Kamal, a seasoned professional and a local guide Shivani was wonderful in her Hindi commentary.
Nightmare started once we left for our onward journey to Paris. Tour Manager again changed, guides left their job at will and others if ever appointed were not capable and without guides it was meaningless to visit historical places, the tour Manager Vinod Aggarwal was clue less about the places and made Paris visit an unforgettable experience, a poor manager with whom we could only sympathize after few days of spats. To cite his inabilities to carry out his task, Vinod Agarwal left 10 people behind including old age couple at a place in Amsterdam (when he started the bus 15 minutes early) and to fend for themselves to reach to Hotel. The hotels that were booked were on the outskirts of the city, few were as good as a Lodge (Best western particularly), I have clicked Pics to show them. I wondered if we were from Economically Weaker Sections of the society to be met with such a treatment. The breakfasts were awful, looked Especially customized for DPaul with no fruits, not even breads what to talk of something remotely vegetarian Indian food. The so called sight seeing (they term as orientation tours, beware please) was only from outside sitting in the bus coaches and if et al it was done, we had to shell out hefty Euros for that. The coach was uncomfortable and our complain to replace it was refused with an excuse of no availability of other coach and it's driver was hardly accommodating so much so that he even refused to stop for a kid to pee and relented after half an hour of requests., No one dared to even argue with him as that masculine Vagabond would threaten to call up police stating discipline. Itinerary was planned in such ill mannered way that you would travel a distance of approximately 300-400 Kms on a daily basis and local sight seeing was difficult since the hotels were located far off only to increase travel time and in the evening you cannot go on your own as Hotels were outside main city. Only saving grace was Indian dinners that still were at decent places but you had to stand in a long queue as if you had to make a queue for Langer, still acceptable after the entire day toll on your soul, mind and body. Last but not the least they made us travel to Helsinki from Italy in reverse direction to make our journey more painful with 8 additional hours. Dpaul to make a money beyond the stated package called everyone before tour that everyone is requesting and has consented (except you) to travel through Eurostar (jacked up cost by Rs.6000/- per member) and that would cut travel time from London to Paris, later on we found no one requested and everyone was fooled by the same communication. To make matter worse it actually spoiled the whole day, eurostar was around 12 noon from London reaching Paris in the early evening hours and then Tour Manager taking us to useless Fragona perfume outlet just to kill time and then to Dinner wasting the entire day.
DPaul’s charged full amount as adult for my childs aged 9 and 14 yrs and handed them half tickets every where at the sight seeing.
Dpaul’s sold the package to everyone (citing discounted for early booking) at the same cost, to some at an exchange rate of Euro as 71, to others at 74, eventually calculating everyone’s package at equivalent conversion rate of 77+. It is amounting to cheating and fraud.
Dpauls you have mastered Asian countries for outbound travel but you need to go miles before you are able to called as Operator with a national fame.
I would not recommend DPaul to anyone, don’t fall into trap of low cost, you may find inbuilt riders to inflate cost once you have given them initial money and then it is for them to take you on a ride.

The following opinion of nine is in response to some negative views
against M/S, D Pauls Travel & Tours Ltd., Delhi appearing in the
Consumer Complaints Blog ( Indian consumer complaints forum
over a period of time).

As against the views shared in previous posts by various travellers who travelled both in national as also international trips with M/S, D Pauls Travel & Tours, for recent most reference, we had a tour with D pauls for Europe ( Paris, Engelberg, Interlaken, Locarno, Zurich ( two days ), and then Drubba in Black forest area in Germany. Thereafter we headed for Italy where we stayed for three days ( Rome, Pisa, Venice, and Milan as being the last stop from where we headed for Delhi). Considering the amount we paid Rs. 1.25 Lacks (approx) for nine nights, the trip was very good, and the Tour Manager, Mr. Gaurav Mighlani was more than excellent. Far, far more better than any tour managers we had encountered in our tours with D Pauls and other agencies in past years. This young man Gaurav was extra-courteous, extra-caring ( particularly to the senior citizens travelling with their husbands, and had minor health problems ), jovial and posed as a member of the family with significant human qualities.

I would suggest to the senior officials of D Pauls to continue engaging tour managers like Mr. Gaurav Mighlani who not only mixes up with the travelling group with effortless frankness and easy tranquility, but at times takes care of them, often going beyond even personal barriers. For example, he even lent his worm Jacket to one of the senior citizens of the group for the entire trip ( and he never wanted that anyone should know about it ). Apparently shy, but very firm in his duties, and professional capabilities, I was not really expecting this kind of return from a mere tour manager who was wonderful in all material as also in subtle human ways & means.

Furthermore, all the six hotels we happened to stay during our said trip were excellent, tidy, with co-operating staff, and comfortable. The food and hospitality were far more tolerable than the accusers' accounts posted in this blog.

The coach driver who professionally was 100% efficient and an expert driver was not very communicative, initially though, but later proved to be an excellent man from Czech Republic, Mr. Zarda who, often catered to the emergency needs of the travellers while travelling in the coach.

Mr. Gaurav Mighlani, the tour manager even took extra-initiatives to see that the travellers' wishes for certain sightseeings were met up with ( and on occasions, he only suggested and even initiated many positive moves at the behest of the travellers ).

I feel sorry for the travellers who had to face untoward quarters while taking up travels with D Pauls, and as for the details of the complaints registered in the aforesaid Blogs, I think one shouldn't forget that M/S, D Pauls is a business concern with the prime goal to make profit like many others in the market, hence we cannot blame them if they draw certain favourable lines that may correspond to their objectives ( But with my experience of travels with D Pauls in the past, I hardly could find any faulty corridors that breached the gross interest of the travellers ). My suggestions to the prospective travellers should be to keenly watch out the nitty-gritty, and the basic fundamentals of the trip they are going to undertake either thru D Pauls, Cox & Kings, Thomas Cook or any other similar agencies who mushroomed the sky of the ultimate travel atmosphere in national or international arena. By doing this they will be able to avoid many unforeseen troubles/problems, whether the trip is undertaken and completed, or cancelled by the travellers because of their genuine reasons.

But I must also say that it may be possible that some D Pauls' executives may not have enough proficiency in communicating with their clients, sometimes though; but at the same time some of them are excellent communicators, for instance I may mention the name of Mr. Amit who spoke to us in his office before the travel. I felt that he was a very efficient communicator, and satisfies the clients' queries with general conviction. But by and large, all of M/S, D Pauls' executives were fairly cooperating and helpful. We got all the information needed from them prior to the final travel. Even today I recall how my travel-problems were solved by their executive in Delhi office when I called him over phone from a very distant place in one of the remotest corners of India.

In our above (recent most with D Pauls, starting from Nov. 21, 2017 ) Europe travel, we the three senior officials retired from a blue-chip CPSE with their wives and relatives have definitely had a memorable experience. For instance, I must inform the reader of this blog of mine that in course of our official tenure, we have stayed in many a star-rated Hotel both in India and abroad, and have enough experience to judge the ambience and the amenities provided by a hotel to their clients, hence our views should be taken into account with a bit of seriousness.

And there is no denying the fact that in future also we will travel with M/S, D Pauls Travel & Tours Ltd. whether in any international or national trip.
