Food Plaza On Nh4, Lonavla — Charging more than MRP

While coming from Pune by bus, our bus haulted at Food Plaza on NH4, Lonavla. There is an icecream shop at the front side of the food plaza. We wanted to buy 2 ice cream cones. We asked for the price and the shop keeper said, it will be Rs. 75. We gave him a 100 rupee note and he gave us the cones. But then we read the prices written on the packaging and we were surprised to read that the cones were worth Rs. 25 & Rs. 35 each. Which makes it a total of Rs. 60. We told him that the MRP is Rs. 60. So please return us 40 rupees. It was just a small take away shop and there was no place to sit or serve. Hence there was no valid reason to charge us more for any particular/ additional service like in hotels. But he said that the actual price of the cones is more than MRP. We explained him the meaning of MRP and told him that he can't charge us more than the MRP. But he gave us a cold look and said that you have to pay Rs. 75 or else you can take your 100 rupee note back and go empty handed. We tried our best to change his mind. But there was no use. Unfortunately there was no other shop in the nearby area and we had no other option but to buy from the same shop. So finally we paid him Rs. 5 extra per cone and told him that we are going to place a complaint about his behavior. Still he gave us no positive reaction. Everyday hundreds of buses visit Food Plaza. Hence you can imagine how much these guys must be earning by overcharging such products. Charging additional 5-10 rupees for a product worth Rs. 25 is a serious loot. I request you to kindly look into the matter and take some serious action against such shops.
