Dark chocolate with a high cocoa content can last for years and years. When it turns whitish on the outside( called "blooming") it is still good to eat.
It could be the caffeine in the chocolate that gave you a headache.
However it is illegal to sell expired products and you can contact the FDA or the dept of Health.
but many products today we are eating is expired . i[censored] get any expired products make a complaint to stop this mistake in future. if everyone did that definitely this cheating will be reduced.
