One of my friends hired an architect for his house renovation. The architect demanded a good amount of money for the work. My friend agreed to pay the amount. Her only conditions were to deliver the quality work as per the timeline.

But guess what happened! The architect started delaying the work and quality of work also started being poor day by day. The architect started making excuses and the project is pending.

When my friend asked to return the advance money, the architect rejected it. Now the case is going on in the court.

The company was furncraft limited and the architect was nitin kohli. If you don't believe me then, please search about him on google. He has created many clients.

I don't want to get trap in this situation as i am also planning for my house renovation.

Please help me by answering the question below:

What questions should i ask an architect for getting a brief about his/her work?

Ask him to share a portfolio of similar projects and provide a list of client references. It will give you a brief about his/her work.

You can ask the architect to explain his/her design philosphy. You will have insight of his/her work.

Tell him to explain the steps of design process of his previous work and ask him how he is going to implement in your project.

It would be good idea to ask him about the criteria that will be used to establish priorities and make design decisions.

It's nice idea to ask the architecture to share some portfolio of similar projects and other projects then Compare both portfolios to get the idea of his work.
