I purchased an apt n Garden City carmel d in 2014 in the 25/75 scheme. The flat was supposed to be available in June 16. This did not happen. The flat was available in nov for possession.
I explained to the Godrej that I live in USA and I am unable to come and see the the flat. And since the recent complaints by owners of the society online I was hesitant to pay for the flat without looking at it. I explained to the Godrej that my wife is pregnant and will deliver in feb and only then will I be able to come by see the apt and make the payment.
They refused this request. Their delay was acceptable. but my delay because my wife being pregnant (flat under her name) and my right to see the end product and then make payment is unacceptable.
They started charging us interest. I was then forced to have my parents go from Dubai to see the apartment. the representative said to just make the payment so at least you will not accrue further interest.
my parents spoke to other tenants, they found out the there was also a delay in some meter certificate. so actually the flat would not have been ready at time of possession and their interest was completely forgiven after persistent visits to the office.
So just because I can only correspond via email and do not have the opportunity to be 'persistent' at a local office I HAVE to pay the interest.
No consideration on delay on behalf of Godrej. but when i am bit late no hesitation on charging interest and no consideration that my wife is pregnant and could not travel to India.
It was further unacceptable to discover that other tenants interest was exempt. But just because I am a NRI I have to pay?
I bought this property because of the Godrej name. We also own two properties in Adani Shantigram and did not have a single issue. When there was a delay all was managed appropriately. and they were ok to wait for payment until we saw the flat because they understood we live outside of India. Was this information helpful? |
