Hi,
I made a salary account with HDFC bank believing that it was the best option out of the 3 I was present with (Kotak, HDFC and PNB). I received a welcome kit and the account was functioning with a couple of days. I could make UPI transactions and everything. However after a couple of weeks, I received a message on my phone saying, “Welcome letter undelivered” and an email following that which said that my account was blocked due to the undelivered welcome letter and that I needed to go to a branch and update my mailing address.
However on going to a branch and telling them the same thing, I was told that my “account needed to be activated” even though it was functioning normally just a few days ago. They told me that I can still receive money in it but can’t debit out of it and that the “activation” will take 7 business days. My question is, if there was an issue with the mailing address, how did they just give the account to me, and how can they just abruptly block my account and block me from using MY money without my authorisation, without as much as contacting me before doing so.
This is very difficult for me as I work night shifts and it’s hard to travel to the bank in the Delhi heat during summer. It’s heartbreaking to see banks being so inconsiderate towards their consumers while running on their money. Was this information helpful? |
