Hi,

I just found out that an amount of ₹ 3, 677.80 was deducted from my account as of today. I haven't done any foreign or international transactions whatsoever.

And what's with the insane deduction?! As i searched online, i see people with just 40 or 50 ₹ issues, but this is staright up 3k₹!

HDFC Bank Customer Care's response Dear Customer,

We have checked and note that the debit pertains the international POS transaction done on August 02, 2017 for Rs. 89050.85 at Amazon.com. There is a currency conversion markup of 3.5 % on foreign currency transactions carried out on debit cards as Transaction amount + 3.5% Foreign Currency markup + Difference in foreign currency Rate( Its the difference in foreign currency rate on the date of transaction and on the date of settlement {Receipt of claim from acquiring bank}). Charges are applicable for ATM withdrawals and also for POS transaction. The exchange rate used will be the Visa/MasterCard wholesale exchange rate prevailing at the time of the transaction. May I please know more about it?

And if those charges are valid, why the heck I didn't get any notifications about it or was informed earlier while opening my account?

Any thoughts on it?

And what's with the insane deduction?! As i searched online, i see people with just 40 or 50 ₹ issues, but this is staright up 1785₹!

I was charged two times internation debit card charges however i have not used my debit card at any international location.
