I am filing a complaint here against hdfc ergo general insurance against the non-payment of the claim amount for my claim id # pa 1617/5309 registered with hdfc ergo on 29/11/2016 for the personal accidental policy number #70072763.
All the necessary documents asked by hdfc ergo team on 29/11/2016, were already sent to their address by 04/12/2016 and i am also attaching the scanned copy of the filled application form which was sent to them during that time. And the claim pa 16 17/5309 was approved by them for which the insurer already received the sms confirmation on her registered mobile number on 09/12/2016.
And after that we approached many times to the grievance team to credit and reimburse the claim amount and they informed us to send the scanned copy of all those documents again along with cancelled cheque, which we already did earlier and the escalation officers from hdfc ergo advised to wait and they asked to give an physical appointment with the insurer, which was also done in the month of january, 2016.
But after all these formalities, still the insured person ms. Anita bhattacharya did not receive the claim amount and after providing sms confirmation on 09/12/2016, again now they have started asking few more documents and again the physical appointment, which already happened earlier.
Now, this is clearly a case of harassment and wasting of valuable time of the insured person and also this is a case of fraud, for which hdfc ergo team is unnecessarily asking new documents, which was not asked earlier at the time of raising claim.
So, on behalf of ms. Anita bhattacharya, i am approaching insurance ombudsmen department, bangalore, to look into this case seriously and help us to receive the claim amount along with compensation amount for that we are waiting for last 3 months without any satisfactory solution.
Reason for filing claim in bangalore: ms. Anita bhattacharya is bed-ridden and she cannot go out as per the doctor’s advice. Hence, being her legal beneficiary (As per the policy) and legal representative and guardian (Relationship: nephew) and as i am staying in bangalore, hence i am putting this case to bangalore dept so that i can come physically in case of any hearing happens.
Discrepancy in communication from hdfc ergo:
After approving the claim on 09/12/2016, the hdfc grievance team many times confirmed over phone that the claim is approved in system and the claim is under process. But later on, the claim team asked for few more documents like indoor case papers, which were nowhere asked earlier before approving the claim. And also we already gave the appointment slot with the patient ms. Anita bhattacharya, where the claim officer mr. Dipayan saha came to patient’s premises (In january, 2017) and did the physical verification and also asked details from the neighbourhood and from the local relatives. But now again they re asking for appointment, which was seriously not expected. And also after approving the claim on december, 2016, now all these points should not be asked from the patient again, which is only a harassment for us, delaying and wasting our time to get the claim amount.
