This is to bring to your notice the series of events that has caused me dis-satisfaction towards the services offered by the hospital.
On the evening of 6th June i had visited the hospital - casualty due to fever. The duty lady doctor prescribed medicines. Post two days of leave, i again visited the hospital on 9th June and was treated by a different duty doctor in the casualty. I resumed to work on 10th June. As an official requirement I'm supposed to submit a medical certificate with my employer. Thus i approached the hospital a few days later to get a medical certificate, and was told to come later when the doctor whom i had consulted is on duty. Hence i went back yesterday evening, only to be told by the duty staff to comeback in the morning at 9am. So i went back today morning for the 3rd time to get the medical certificate. The duty staff & duty doctor now started making several calls and consulting their higher officials, all for the sake of confirming how to issue a medical certificate. After several discussions, the duty doctor handed over the phone to me. Some senior doctor (on the other side of the line) after several rounds of questioning again asked me to come back later in the evening (between 6 - 9pm) to meet the lady doctor whom i had consulted and I was told that she would be the one issuing the medical certificate. Abiding by their guidelines, I again went back tonight and had to wait for quite sometime as the lady doctor on duty was busy on a tele-call outside the casualty.
As she came in, the duty staff handed over my prescription to her asking her to issue a medical certificate. But to my astonishment, the lady doctor bluntly said she can't issue the medical certificate and she is leaving. Standing right beside her, i felt embarrassed and insulted. After several harsh rounds of arguments, the doctor who was least bothered to have the courtesy of asking who had instructed me to come, finally called up someone to seek further assistance because i raised my voice in protest. Later she stated that she could have given the certificate but since i had approached them quite late for the same, it couldn't be issued. As a customer few questions left unanswered:
1. Why am i denied of a medical certificate for a service/treatment i availed and paid for?
2. Why if they have an internal protocol, should i suffer as a customer?
3. Ultimately if it ended up in not issuing the certificate, why was i made to walk up & down the hospital several times?
4. When voices were raised in argument, another lady doctor threatened by stating " You do whatever you want, we will see".
5. The attitude of the doctor while rejecting my plea for a certificate was highly sarcastic & carefree. How can someone from such a noble profession behave like this?
This shows the level of service the Hospital offers to its patients and the rude 'don't care' attitude of the staff.Hospital does not cater to the needs of the customer, they have no internal rules and this shows management is very weak in controlling their staff. Each doctor or staff has different opinion. Each says i am not the one who is responsible. One staff said that earlier the hospital had issued fake medical certificates and now they have become strict in this regard.
If a hospital can issue fake medical certificate then why cant they issue a genuine one or is it that they issue only fake ones?
Pity the hospital with such a poor management.
