We planned to purchase a car since my dad planned to gift it to me on my wedding which is on 08/02/2015.
We had decided to buy a Mahindra Scorpio S4 since it fits our budget and had booked the vehicle from SKS Automobiles, Salem. We also asked the dealer to refer finance agencies as we wanted to get a loan for the purchase.
The sales rep from the dealership brought 2 guys from Mahindra Finance, Villupuram branch to our house to complete the loan application formalities. We submitted the documents then and there and the rep of mahindra finance (Mr. Sakthivel murugan) informed us that there were no more documents needed and we would have to pay an advance emi + processing charges totaling Rs.25, 100/. After credit check eventually they approved our loan and asked me to pay the advance emi totaling Rs.25, 100/. This approval was given during 2nd week of december.
In the meantime, our relatives questioned our plan to purchase a new vehicle during december, as we could get a 2015 production model if we waited for a couple of weeks. We also decided it was the best idea. So we called up the sales rep from the car dealership and informed about the same. But he tried to persuade us into purchasing the vehicle before the end of december which we denied. Within sometime, i got a call from Mahindra Finance, Villupuram stating that i have to purchase the car before the end of the month or the loan would be cancelled. I know that they cant cancel my loan as it was already approved and I knew they were just bluffing. This also made me aware that the guys at Mahindra Finance, Villupuram were coordinating with the dealership to force me into doing something that i dont want to which amounts to breach of trust.
But i didnt take it seriously. Later that day the sales guy called up and said i have to purchase the car before 31st december or i wont be able to get the loan. He also mentioned that the finance company is doing a favour by approving a loan and that if i miss this chance i wont be able to get a car loan anywhere. I am not sure how that is a favour done by Mahindra Finance. The guys at Mahindra Finance had even discussed my CIBIL scores with the sales person from the dealership.
I was so mad ad this point. As a buyer i would like to have a descent reputation with the seller. CIBIL keeps a track of our transactions only for finance companies to track customers profile before approving a loan. It is very unethical for a company to share the details with someone with whom the customer has to have a good rapport as he would have to go back to the dealer for services and repairs. This again is a breach of trust and is a punishable offence and also is defaming the customer.
I didnt take this seriously too.
When the next time Mr.Sakthivel Murugan from Mahindra Finance, Villupuram called i told him its okay if my loan is cancelled and that im not gonna buy the car in december. I also advised him not to share customer's cibil records to others. He got offended by this and told me he knows what to do and that i cant instruct him about what he has to do. I asked to speak with the manager and someone else came on the line. I explained the same and asked him not to share customers cibil records to others for which he replied "This is how we work. If you want you can ask for a loan from others who can follow the process properly". He admits they are not following proper practices arrogantly. I am not sure how #Mahindra trains its employees.
After all this i didnt even think about purchasing a car anymore. We got busy with marriage work like invitation printing, shopping etc. By the second week of january 2015, we thought of starting the car buying process as they had said they could deliver 2015 production model vehicle only during last week of january 2015. I called up Mr.Sakthivel Murugan and asked if i can proceed with the approved loan for which he said the loan was approved only for december 2014 and i cant get it for the year 2015.
I asked him why it is difficult for which he replied "Head office will not approve". So i asked if he would proceed with the loan if i get approval from head office. He said "If the head office allows, he doesnt have a problem". I called the number given on Mahindra Finance website, explained the issue and was transferred to someone. The person who picked up informed me that i would have to speak with someone from tamilnadu and gave a mobile number. I called the number and spoke with a manager from chennai who had a slight malayalam accent. He informed that nobody can deny a loan which was already approved. He got the villupuram branch manager on conference call and asked him to check my file and sanction the loan. Villupuram branch manager asked for 1 hour's time and called me back in an hour and informed me that the loan is approved and that i can pay the advance emi of Rs.25, 100/. They could have done this earlier and saved the trouble.
I paid the advance emi in a couple of days and also submitted a cheque book containing 45 signed blank cheque leaves to Mr.Sakthivel Murugan who checked the cheque leaves and placed in the file along with my other documents. I also informed my dealer to book the car. They promised a delivery date of 28/01/2015. Which was fine as there was 10 days between my marriage and the promised delivery date and i had enough time.
But when i called on 31st jan, my dealer told they dont have the S4 variant ready which i had booked. The ex showroom price was around Rs.9, 40, 000/ for the S4 variant and loan amount was Rs.7, 65, 000/. My dealer informed i have to wait for 10 more days. But i had less than a week for my marriage which is the reason we are buying the car in the first place. So i thought of checking if anyone else has d S4 variant ready. I spoke with zulaikha, mpl, india garage, chennai, shiva auto trichy, jain auto vellore. None of them had d S4 variant ready. Only option was to buy d top end variant but it was too costly for us. Jain autos from vellore had S6+ which was costing Rs.10, 80, 000/ ex showroom. Now that was my only option. They even spoke with the branch manager of villupuram and said they are ready to increase my loan amount. Meanwhile SKS Automobiles where i had paid Rs.20, 000/ earlier for booking the S4 variant informed that they have the same S6+ variant readily available. I went to mahindra finance villupuram office where vinothraj TL said he can get approval for one lakh(ie. Rs.8, 65, 000) without any effort since the vehicle cost had increased by over Rs.1, 70, 000/. I asked if he can round the loan amount to 9lakh rs. He said he will try to do it but increasing 1 lakh would be done without any issues on monday by 10AM.
He went through my file and told that they cant accept my cheque book as it was not a CTS cheque. I had given the chequebook about 15 days back and sakthivel had checked the book and placed it in my file.If an employee does not know what documents are to be collected whats the point in allowing him to deal with customer accounts? Are you even providing adequate training to your staff?
Vinothraj, TL took me to the branch manager who told he will get the approval done on monday. When i asked him to get it done soon as my marriage was in less than a week's time he said they will get it done once i submit the cheque leaves. He said if i finish my part the loan would be ready and the only way it can be delayed is if i cause a delay. This happened on saturday night. They had over 2 weeks to ask me to get a new cheque book. But they informed this 5 days before my marriage. All banks take min 1 week to send cheque book. So we opened a new account at villupuram ICICI bank and got 5 CTS cheque leaves and submitted in the Villupuram Mahindra Finance office by afternoon. My dad is a heart patient. I took him to cuddalore to check if we can get cheque leaves at his branch and since they said they cant do, i took him from cuddalore to villupuram to open a new bank account. I was riding my bike with my dad whos a heart patient as the pillion rider for over 100 kms as it was urgent to get it sorted. All this ruckus was only because sakthivel had failed to check d cheque leaves when we submitted them.
On monday vinothraj TL and branch manager who promised to get the approval by 10 AM on monday was not in office. Vinothraj was not even picking up calls. The reason i was given was that there was a meeting and so they wont do anything about the loan. While speaking to a person there about this issue, there was this guy who was speaking as if im d reason for all this confusion. He asked me how many times i had come to d office and i told 3. I really had visited the office thrice 1.To pay my first emi and submit cheque book. 2.On saturday night to ask if they can increase my loan amount. 3.On monday when he said im lying that i have visited the office thrice. He says he hasnt seen me even once. I dont know what he means and why he wants to know about the number of my visit. After wasting my time on monday i called on tuesday. I was told that the manager was not available and they dont know if he will be back before evening. Thats when i called mumbai office again for the second time since i had just 2 more working days left and was told to talk with mr.shiv kumar, zonal manager. I explained this issue and he promised to revert back after speaking with the branch. He called me back and said that the loan approval was a problem because of bad credit scores and that i had defaulted on 2 emis on my bike. I told him that the loan was already approved and i had even paid d first emi and if my CIBIL score was the problem, why was the loan approved in the first place? The only problem was in increasing the loan amount by 1 lakh. The vehicle value had gone up by 1.7 lakh so it shouldnt be a problem.
He promised to call me back the next day morning. But he never did. I called at about 10:00 AM and he didnt answer. I lost all hopes by now. Hence i arranged all the cash i could and i had d whole downpayment of about 3.5 lakh rupees ready and i didnt want to ask for increasing the loan amount as it was just a waste of time. But while traveling to my dealership around evening i spoke with shivkumar and told him that im going to pay the difference and asked if he can increase the loan by atleast rs.50, 000/. He promised to get it done and i was relieved a bit as i could use the extra fund for accessories. I reached the dealership on wednesday night and paid the downpayment fully leaving Rs.7, 65, 000/ + Rs.50, 000/. I was hoping that the loan would be approved atleast on thursday so i can get the vehicle delivered on friday for my wedding on sunday.
But on thursday after the dealer sent all my reciepts totaling to nearly Rs.2, 80, 000/. the villupuram Mahindra Finance office was constantly saying they r working on my file and will b ready in half an hour. By afternoon, vinothraj TL called and said i have to pay Rs.2, 200/ more which is the difference in emi for the increased loan amount. He said someone has to come personally to villupuram which is atleast 2 hour drive. Since i was already in salem and everyone was busy with marriage arrangements, i told him if theres any way i can pay in salem or transfer the cash to villupuram office bank account and i was told that cant be done. I again called up Mr.Shivkumar and told about this. He said i can pay in salem mahindra finance branch. I spoke with salem mahindra finance branch and they asked someone from villupuram office to send an email authorising the salem branch to accept my payment. I spoke with Vinothraj TL and said he cant do that and that i dont have to pay the Rs.2, 200/ difference at all and he only wanted my account statement(proof- audio file attached). I downloaded it online and emailed it to them. If they had wanted, they could have sanctioned my loan. But they didnt. At about 5:00 PM on thursday they again called and said i need to provide payslips of my dad and my mom. We are getting the loan on my dads name. But why do they need my moms payslip when she is not even a co-borrower. I asked my brother who was at my house to scan my dad's payslip and email it to villupuram office which he did.
When i called to inform that i have sent the payslip, sakthivel asked me to send my moms payslip. I told him my mom is neither a borrower nor a co-borrower and why they need her payslip.? For which sakthivel gave explanations like "the loan is sanctioned only because my parents are government employees so they need their payslips". This was a ridiculous explanation which made me realize they are doing this on purpose.
Main reason behind this is that i made them sanction the loan which they said they wont process by talking to their superiors. They took it as an insult and was playing as a team to do whatever they can to show their power.
I told him i cant send her payslip and asked if they need anything else. He said no. I asked his name and he gave his name and asked me why i spoke with the zonal manager. I told him that if he had done his job i wouldnt have had to go to his superiors. All this time i was addressing him by "ji". But Mr.Sakthivel an employee of Mahindra Finance Ltd, Villupuram said, "do lam poda mudiyadhu. Phone a vaida mayiru"
Which translates to "I wont give the DO hang up mayiru(a very offensive word used while addressing something of low life referring to human hair).
I have filed a police complaint on Mr.Sakthivel Murugan about the same.
He hung up after saying that. Me for the first time in my life was being referred to by that word. I never expected such treatment. Within minutes, the branch manager called up and asked what i wanted. I told i dont want anything just dont call me. He said he will personally stop the loan and asked me to do whatever i can. A manager of a branch of a reputed financial institution acknowledges his employee's arrogance and also sides with him against a customer. He also said "u are just a borrower" i replied im borrowing only from the company where he works and not from him so not to talk to me as if im a beggar. At this point i didnt even care if i got the loan or not. I called up Mr.Shivkumar again and i couldnt eve speak. After paying over 3 lakhs and after spending over a week during my marriage which was supposed to be the happiest day of my life, i was played with and humiliated by all possible means and was also disrespected in the worst possible way just because i applied for a loan from Mahindra Finance Ltd.
Mr.Shivkumar spoke with the branch manager and asked him to finish the process immediately and within a matter of minutes they approved my loan. They could have done this long back and saved my energy, time, money and most of all saved me from the immense mental trauma caused by employees of Mahindra Finance limited spanning for over 45 days until 2 days prior to my marriage. This was a willful delay in services by the villupuram office and a psychopathic game to make the customer to suffer just because he got the loan approved when a representative told they cant provide the loan.
All this when theres just 2 more days for my marriage..
Now when i look at my car, all that comes to my mind is the word "Mayiru".
I have the call recordings of all the conversations which clearly shows how they made me run from pillar to post at the last minute. If they had told they wont provide the load atleast a week in advance, I would have applied somewhere else. They waited for the last minute to make me suffer.
Once again i never disrespected any of your staff it was the other way around. Just by delaying my loan at the last minute your staff might have been happy and had fun about my suffering and gained nothing else. I could have got d loan approved easily if i had applied somewhere else. So cibil scores is not the reason behind this delay. It was just a game played by everyone as a team in villupuram office. I definitely dont want to let this go. Especially after being addressed by "mayiru". Pls revert as soon as you can..
Once again you guys messed up my happiness during my marriage for no valid reasons and you will have to face the consequences.
