I booked a ticket for 2 persons to travel from tirupati, ap to mumbai, mh on 23rd april on makemytrip. The booking had two flights (Connecting), spice jet (Sg 1048) - tirupati to hyderabad (18:35 hrs) and air india (Ai 51) - hyderabad to mumbai (22:00 hrs). Spice jet was supposed to reach hyderabad @ 19:45 hours but we were informed at tirupati airport that the will start late by 1 hour due to operational issues. We thought that since the gap between the two flights is 2.15 hrs, we should be fine even with this delay but flight could only start around 20:00 hrs and landed hyderabad domestic terminal @ 21:15 hrs. It took another 15 minutes for us to come out of airport (Including bus travel (Flight to arrivals). After coming out we came to know that air india flight which we were supposed to board was international flight (Till this point we didn't had any hint that this is international flight) and operates from international terminal and the boarding gates were already closed by that time (21:30 hrs) since this is international flight. I immediately rushed to international terminal with hopes to make it to the flight as we were still having 30 minutes left. But air india staff there informed us that nothing can be done now as we are too late and they can not take any responsibility for connecting flights of other carriers. We immediately approached mmt desk. There response was poorest. The guy told that we are just mediators and we can not take any responsibility for what has happened. He told that we need to book fresh flight in order to travel from hyderabad to mumbai.
With help of air india staff we came out of international terminal and went to spice jet counter on domestic terminal for reporting this issue. They also showed their helplessness and said that they do not take any responsibility for connecting flights of other carriers. We were so irritated with this because none of the parties - mmt, air india, spice jet are showing any responsibility and not helping at all. The connecting flight option was something which was available at mmt site and i did not book 2 independent flights myself and hence they must take responsibility on this. I booked fresh ticketed with air india for their morning 05:30 hrs flight paying additional inr 7980. Me and my wife had to spend entire night miserably at the airport and travelled in the morning to reach mumbai only at 07:00 hrs on 24th morning.
The point here is mmt being the booking agents took no initiative to help us reach hyderabad early, no calls, no sms, no information and at the end also didn't help us when we missed the flight. And after that they say we are just mediators. This is not at all acceptable. I want refund of inr 7980 (Flight tickets) + compensation for one painfull night spent at the airport.
