I am in total agreement with the above comments. My 6 Year old daughter got qualified for the National Level Competition & we seeing her enthusiasm took her to Mumbai for the so-called "highest & toughest test of India". The only mistake we made in the build-up was that we did not attend / pay for the orientation program that they conducted a week before the exam - foolishly we thought that we could ourselves prepare her for the exam and put in significant effort downloading worksheets / preparing fresh papers based on their published question paper pattern and rigorously preparing the child for the exam. Little did we know that the issue was not really about preparation but was more about the exorbitant fees that they were charging through the proxy of the orientation program.
The further irony is that they take 2 months to declare inter-school results, 10 days for the state level results and a "mere 2 hours" to declare the national level results. The National level test had more than 1000 students taking up a 3-hour long paper, which was "miraculously" evaluated within a mere 2 hours from when the test was completed. How on earth is that kind of "speed-evaluation" possible - the paper had 3/4 categories of detailed writing (like fill in the blanks, Anagrams, antonyms, spot 10 differences & write 5 sentences on a topic) as well as a oral round where each child was made to speak 5-7 sentences on a particular topic and a further round on picture comprehension. We were informed that there was an army of "20 teachers" who would do all the evaluation at "mission-impossible" speeds!!!
In summary, this exam is a complete mockery of the international spell-bee with not even an iota of transparency and leaves the innocent children heart-broken and less confident for really no fault of theirs. They and us "gullible parents" are "easy prey" to the money-making organisations. All o[censored]s should raise our voices against such "unethical" organisations who go down to the most cruel act of not even sparing innocent little children who still feel our world is a fair & just place.
