As consumers we will be using taking various services from the service providers including bus ticket booking, movie ticket booking, air ticket booking etc.in most of the cases the payments were made through net banking or debit card or any other permissible digital mode.
It is observed in almost of the cases these companies will be levying a fees called convinience fees which is not acceptable.
It is true that as consumers want to reserve the service so that it is planned and to avoid any last minute hassels.
In almost of the case payments is made upfront before availing the service i. E cash is paid in advance and in some cases few days in advance too which means the service provider has already received our money in advance for the proposed service and has to provide the service on the designated date.
Such charges will be around rs. 20/- to rs. 500/- per instance or even more.
From the consumer's perspective the service provider has already received money for his yet to be delivered service through which the service provider would have met his working capital requirements and made arrangements for future services to prospective customers effectively. Then why such exhorbitant charges are levied? This is applicable for government owned service providers too including railways.
