Nissi Hostel Chennai — about refunding caution deposited

I resided in this hostel (ekaduthangal branch) for 16 months. Due to an emergency situation I vacated the hostel on April 6 of this month. The warden promised that they will refund the caution deposit 5000 through my friend cum room mate who's residing in that hostel. But when asked for the refund they said the calculation as follows. 1. Room rent per day as paying guest from April 1 to 6, 2015 - 300* 6 = 1800 ( please note the monthly rent is 4650 + EB bill). 2. Current bill for 6 days - 200. So total is 2000. They have took 2000 from the caution deposit. And added to this they say that I've only paid 4000 as caution deposit which is an absolute lie. Finally they are only refunding the amount 1750, while they promised to refund 5000 while joining the hostel. I also contacted the management of the hostel. They say they bed a claim number if the caution deposit to refer, which I was asked to return while vacating the hostel. Where shall I go to get the claim number now? I'm really frustrated about this incident. I do not recommend this hostel to anyone as it's constructed with a type of cardboard or wood which can catch fire easily. Also the main circuit has caught fire like cracker 3times in 16 months. When I asked the people staying there they say it's a usual occurence and we have informed management many times. They don't consider it serious at all. But such a big management which has many brachest around Chennai is not refunding the amount as promised is so lacking and disappointing. My friend also experienced the same.
