Punbus / Punjab Roadways — Denial of digilocker verified aadhaar card as a proof of residence

I am traveling from ludhiana to chandigarh in the Punjab roadways bus. On presenting the digilocker verified adhaar card in the phone, the conductor refused and I had to pay for the journey. Please clarify the role of digilocker verified adhaar card and if it is applicable, please reimburse my fare.
