Kalpana Nagar is a small lane and has about 15 houses and has a single road, which connects to Velachery Main Road (the other end is a dead end). Few years back culverts were put up on both sides to enable rain water flow - problem caused by raising road levels.
Recently one restaurant was allowed to operate here and they divert all their water, including that of their toilets into this culvert. They seem to be not worried. Water is just stagnated in the culvert and they do not flow, causing stinking smell and a good breeding ground for mosquitoes. Mr. Sivaraman is the Ward Councillor here and many-a-times this issue has been raised to him, but of no avail. This was brought to the attention of Municipal Chairman as well. No right action taken still.
Added to this, today the Municipality comes and sticks a Dengue awareness sticker on every house in Kalpana Nagar. Without ensuring water flowing out from these culverts, I am surprised that they are talking about Dengue awareness and eradication.
Appreciate immediate action to ensure that the culverts are not blocked and water is made to flow out.
We were told that the culverts at one end in Velachery road is blocked with bottles, papers, etc... the question is how is this not noticed by them... why even allow the drains to be open to thus subject bottles, etc to fall into these drains ?
Can we see action now ? Was this information helpful? |
