Vodafone India — Cheating by Vodafone/ Incorrect balance deduction

Address: Mumbai City, Maharashtra

For more than a year now, the session costs for data service consumption has been deducted from my mothers number - [protected]. data consumed 0.00 mb and session cost charged. All this when she was connected to WIFI and the data services were OFF on the phone. So we assumed it was her old handsets problem. We specifically bought a new handset to avoid the problem but the problem persists. The Vodafone Customer Care Centre at Hiranandani Powai only seems to be bewildered. They uninstalled the net connection on the phone, despite doing that the deductions are still being made on the number for data usage. It is appalling to see such a strange problem occurring with such a huge network service provider. It is even more appalling to see how you handle such cases. The Customer Service Men are simply confused and refuse to register a complaint and the customer care representatives simply hang up. They once asked us to try replacing the SIM card for which we hadn't carried an ID proof. They refused to provide support or assistance to collect the ID proof document from us busy disgruntled customers. Ive been so dissatisfied that I will now change my network service provider. But I refuse to stay quiet about the issue. You are not only losing 1 customer, but all o[censored]s fellow family Vodafone users and also a lot of prospective customers who I will convince against using Vodafone. Regards, Shweta Nair Also please see the outrageous response from your customer care and also when I posted on the Vodafone facebook page the post got deleted Dear Mr. Nayar, Thank you for your email dated 11/02/15, regarding data usage for your Vodafone number [protected]. We regret the inconvenience caused on account of the same. We have checked and confirm you that the charges levied towards data usage are correct and accurate. We wish to inform you that, you have been charged for data usage when there was no data pack active on your above mentioned Vodafone mobile number. You have been charged as per standard rate 4p/10KB and download charges are applied as per website content. Listed below are some possible reasons by which internet could have been consumed. · Smart phones like iPhone, Windows, Android devices etc. may have certain applications that have an auto update system and tend to continuously access data network. These auto updates could be Online Applications; which usually run in the background. These applications always stay connected onto the internet. E.g. Weather, Stock and news alerts, social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook), Chat applications (What’s App, We Chat), Emails, BBM updates etc. · So, even when the phone is not being used, as these applications are on Sel[censored]pdation mode, internet services are used. · Data usage is billed on the volume of data transfer. Data transfer in online applications occurs throughout the day; hence usage will be billed accordingly. In case online applications are not in use, please Log-out or Sign-out to avoid data transfer throughout the day. · Also Games / Applications that feature advertisements which play as a scroller or have an option of an online update of scores consume data. We assure you that our charging System accurately monitors and records usage of each SIM Card. This ensures that you are charged only for the service which you have actually utilized. Hence, we are unable to reverse the same. Mr. Nayar, given below is the Service Request reference number; in case you need to check the status on your e-mail, you can share this number with us. Service Request Number – [protected]. In case you need further assistance, please do call or email us. We’ll do our best to help you. Happy to help, Vijaya Kotkar.
