West Bengal Police — inefficiency of matters

I lodged a complaint with the Muchipara police station on the 14th of May regarding the theft of my phone on a bus nearby Purabi Cinema. I was told the IMEI numbers i provided them would be tracked by the police. The person who stole my phone removed my sim from the phone but forgot to delete my gmail account because of which all of his/her contacts got backed up to my account. This implies the person using it did switch the phone on and the police are supposed to be tracking it which they haven't. I wonder if filing cases are just for show coz they never seem to be totally unheeded to. I have done more work last night in trying to procure the identities and numbers of the contacts in my account and getting to the thief than the great police department of Kolkata has done in the past 16 days. how is that for efficiency?
