[Resolved]  Abbott — medicine returns related

Address: Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, 641030

Hi

Recently, I purchased Insulin (Mixtard Penfil) for an elderly person at Thulasi Pharmacies, Kavundampalayam, Combatore. Later, realised it was not the right one and had to return & replace with the correct one. Unfortuantely, one of the sachet was peeled open and hence shop keeper refused to take back the item. Such mistake could happen to anyone as mafucturing companies keep changing the outlook of the packaging very often these days. On further investigation, the personnel in the pharmacies asked me to provide a written letter to the manufacturer (In this case Abbott Labs) for any refund.

This was the first time I came across a situation wherein a customer has to provide a letter to the manufucturer to get a refund for peeling off the sachet. Though the situation was very unpleasent, I agreed to do so to check if this really is the case across.

Would appreciate, if you could let me know the Return policy of your organisation as in this case wherein the customer accidently peeled off the sachet of the injection and not damaged the penfill item itself

Looking forward to your response

Abbott Customer Care's response
Dear Sir/Madam

We are in receipt of your enquiry and hereby understand that you had purchased a different product than what was prescribed to you at Thulasi Pharma in Coimbatore.

Please note that the company doesn’t usually change the outlook of the product packaging material.

Any updates that are being taken up is in concurrence from the Indian Health authority.

The product is identified by the generic name and brand name which remains constant. You should directly deal this matter with the pharmacy as the product is wrongly dispensed by them.

In your case, you have also peeled off the penfill blister accidently and thereby have exposed the product to the external environment. Such activity doesnot fall under any kind of replacement.

Thank You.

B Regards

The batch no. ACB6007 manufactured on July 2016 of acitrom 2 mg medicine is faulty. I have a mechanical heart valve and this is my regular medicine for keeping blood thin.
Please remove this batch from market as it is creating more harm than benefit.
