CAVEAT EMPTOR! Buyer BEWARE of AMAZON!(read below why.)
I had purchased a Rs. 5000 gift card from Amazon under the
10% HDFC Credit Card cashback promotion which was being run a few months
back(in october). The last date to issue the cashback was 15th of December
2014. I DID NOT receive the cashback. So I started by first calling the Amazon
customer care. They were able to give merely EMPTY assurances about the
cashback and kept on extending the last date by 5-10 days several times. In
total I have had verbal communication with them for atleast 4-5 times. One of their
customer representatives even told me that IT IS NOT FOR AMAZON TO PURSUE THE
CASHBACK AS THE SAME IS TO BE ISSUED BY THE CONCERNED BANK AND SO I WAS TOLD TO
PURSUE MY CASE WITH HDFC!
I was SHOCKED to hear this. I firmly told the representative
that by purchasing the gift card, I have entered into a contract and transacted
with Amazon.in and NOT HDFC and therefore it is Amazon's bounden duty to purse
the case of cashback with HDFC.
Still NOTHING happened. So I contacted them through emails.
I have had written communication with Amazon atleast 3-4 times and AGAIN they
are extending the date of issuing a cashback by 5-10 days.
For proof I am reproducing their mail below:-

Hello,
In line to our conversation with regards to HDFC cash back,
referring to the order number#[protected]
I apologize for the inconvenience caused with this regards.
The process has started and the latest date to wait for cash
back given by HDFC bank is 10th Jan.So, I request you to wait till 10th Jan.
I appreciate your patience and understanding in this
regards.

Another mail which I have received yesterday is as below:-
Hello,
I'm Swaroop from the Amazon Escalation Team.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience due to the cash back issues
with your order.
I understand how frustrating it would be for you to go
through this delay, but please be informed that these issues crop up very
infrequently.
I know that we may have informed you last time that the Cash
Back will be posted by 10th January 2015. Unfortunately some of the refunds are
still pending by the Bank.
Further, they've mentioned that by 15th January 2014, all
the Cash Backs will be posted by them.
I understand that you have been contacting us multiple times
regarding the delayed cash back and it is a known issue which is been worked
upon with high priority.
Please wait till 15th January 2014 till the end of the day
and I'm positive that the cash back will be reflected and please check your
bank statement for the same.
Please treat this as an isolated case and give us a chance
to resolve the issue.

*Amazon has shown the poorest of effort in guaranteeing
customer satisfaction. More so they have gone a step ahead and commited a Fraud
and case of IPC 420 is clearly made out.
I am waiting for a few more days and then i'll send them a
legal notice for cheating, fraud, loss of interest, for mental harassment,
agony.
I am sharing this so that all of you be aware and careful
about these cashback offers being run by Amazon.
