I have been victim of mis-statement made by Amazon India on its platform. In order to lure customers in the name of heavy discounts on books the company has been stating inflated original prices to show deep discounts. The fact of the matter is that the original price of the book(s) is much less. Thus a customer is waylaid into buying products under the impression that he is getting a very high discount. Had the correct price been informed the customer may not have made the purchase.
The book 'Tagore the World Voyager' was shown priced at Rs. 499/- and made available at the price of Rs. 110/- On receipt it was discovered that the price printed on the books is only Rs. 199/- Thus the price was deliberately inflated by Rs. 300/- to trap the customers.
Another book 'Journeys in the Night' was stated to be priced at Rs. 699/- and sold at Rs. 165/- The shocking fact which was discovered is that the book is having a price tag of only Rs. 299/- Amazon India inflated its price by Rs. 400/- I.E. much more than double.
Another book titled 'The Autobiography and Other Writings by Benjamin Franklin was shown to be originally priced at Rs. 599/- and sold for Rs. 124/- When the book was received it carried a price tag of Rs. 225/- only.
There are many other people who have suffered similarly.
This is clearly a case of fraud and cheating done by Amazon India to make wrongful profits at the cost of the gullible buyers for whom a hefty discount is used as a ploy to make purchases.
I had taken up the matter with Amazon India. In the first two cases it admitted its fault but came back with lame and general excuses. In the last case it has failed to answer the calling my email and has beaten about the bush.
I am really perturbed and want to take legal action so that these type of incidents do not take place and the customer is not taken for a ride. Was this information helpful? |
