Billroth Hospitals — Poor and unreliable quality of lab reporting

Billroth Kaliappa hospital has degenerated both in its reliability of pathology/ haematology report as well as the quality of medical services offered. So much so the clientele is on the decline. A typical example of how poor and unreliable are the standard of medical testing are given below just as an example. On 8th Nov, 2020 I got a haemoglobin level test done and the result showed 9.4 gms% as against 13 to 17required for men. I had shown the results to Dr. Shivakumar of Billroth Kaliappa and he suspected blood loss due to colon cancer or some internal haemorrage. He asked me take a series of tests amounting to over Rs.6000/-. In the complete blood count test that he asked me to take the haemoglobin levels came out as 15.4 gms%. It has caused me a lot of anxiety and financial loss to the tune of Rs.6000/- due to wrong reporting. Such is the standards of the pathology lab. Today, 25th Feb, 2021 morning when I went to get a test done, the lab had no attendant and anybody could enter and tamper with the records if need be. The attendant arrived after a while and when I asked him as to how he can leave the lab unmanned, he said dont I have to attend to nature’s call?Such is the callousness of the hospital and staff manning such important areas. Pathetic is the description of the functioning of this hospital. I wonder how the health authorities give a license for such hospitals to function.
